{{It is Friday. Today I link with Lisa Jo Baker for Five Minute Friday. Here is how it works…. One word prompt. Five minutes. No editing. Lots of women. Everyone writes on the same word. Equals a great time.}}
The word? Together …
Funny that this would be the word chosen for today. In a round about way, I have been thinking on this very word for days now.
None of us want to be alone. The very opposite of being together, actually. We want to be with someone, joining in a common goal or relationship. It adds a feeling of belonging, of purpose to our days.
But here is what I have been pondering lately …… God wants me, us, to be together with Him. I know it is not a big news flash but yet there are times we do so struggle with being together with Him. With being on the same page as Him.
Listen to what He says….
“Come now, let us reason together,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are like scarlet they shall be as while as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.” (Isaiah 1:18, NIV).
We quote this verse often, probably know it by heart even. We stop right there. But this week, I read just one verse more……
“If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the best from the land.” (verse 19).
Why had I ever stopped short after verse 18? Seriously. And don’t we do the same with our spiritual lives? We stop short after salvation, after being forgiven, and miss that He has more for us – if we would only do life together with Him.
When we do life together with Him, He offers us the best – that which is best for us.
Life begins to make sense. Even in the hard days. The good and the bad; the difficult and the easy; the joys and the sorrows; the laughter and the tears. He brings it all together. He holds it all together. As a matter of fact ……
He holds us – together.

What a beautiful post on a wonderful topic. Pleased to ‘meet’ you!
Thank you for stopping here. It really is nice to meet new friends! Have a great Friday!
Dear Joanne
We sometimes get confused with the the term salvation. Yes, Jesus saves us, but it is not a once off thing! Like Paul says in Galatians like we have received Him through faith so we must live in Him through faith. That is a togetherness for all eternity where He sanctifies us daily through His saving life!
Blessings XX
Mia
Thanks, Joanne, for your post! It touched me and reminded me how extremely important it is for me to make time for Him and be alone and together with Him!

Joanne, lovely thoughts! Thank you!
I saw your comment on Adelein’s blog when I left a comment, so I came to read your blog post as I could tell you were a believer. Thanks for that reminder. I have stopped short of reading that verse as well. I too want to do life together with Him–doing what He wants me to do.
May we live in ALL that He has for us! So glad that you stopped here & shared as well. Have a wonderful weekend!
