God, you shower unmerited blessings on those who are pure in heart. Keep us from envying the possessions of those around us. Grant us contentment with what you give us. It is good to be near you in your sanctuary because you are the strength of our heart and our portion forever.
In Jesus’ name. Amen
(Prayer from Holman Old Testament Commentary, Vol. 11, page 369)
“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”” (Psalm 73:26, NIV)
He holds my portion.

The word “portion” would make a great word study, I think. There are so many implications and possibilities to that word, and I think it’s important to know the different ways we can count on our God. Beautiful thoughts; thank you for sharing!
