Every Friday I join a community of bloggers for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt, five minutes. Unedited. The prompt this week is … Void.

Void … means empty, nothing, not inhabited.

And in the beginning, that was what it was:

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters.” (Genesis 1:1-2, NASB)

There was nothing, God created the heavens and the earth. He spoke and there was. He continued to create and move over His creation.

God spoke everything we see, touch, hear, and experience into existence. He filled the void that was with beauty and wonder.

And so it is with our lives as well. God alone fills the void:

But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine.” (Isaiah 43:1, NKJV)

God spoke,
calling out our name into the void,
and made us His children.
