Every Friday I join a community of bloggers for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt, five minutes. Unedited. The prompt this week is … Scene.
A play is comprised of several scenes, or smaller episodes which make up the entirety of the story.
Life is very much the same. We go through life and it might be broken up into several scenes: childhood, school years, college, career, marriage, parenting, care-giving, or retirement.
Each scene builds upon the other, preparing us for the next occurrence in our lives. At times, a scene can be anticipated, but often a scene may hold an unexpected surprise.
Sitting and reflecting on the scenes of life, one thing became apparent to me:
“Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life.” (Psalm 23:6, NASB)
The Lord was present in every scene of my life
whether it was anticipated or took me by surprise.
Every scene of our lives lovingly held in His hands.

Today I may be joining …
My life was made of many scenes,
each filmed in a single take,
and while I pondered ways and means,
the film crew ate the birthday cake
that had been prepared for me,
but, you know, I got distracted,
and I watched but couldn’t see
their happy munching as I acted.
This, I guess, is how it goes,
that we find our honour stolen,
but as the thorns protect the rose,
we just smile and keep on rollin’
up that rainbow (I can fly!)
to His mansion in the sky.
I getting to the stage where there are so many scenes to my life…I’m starting to forget my lines!:) Enjoyed your post and the reflection it encourages me to do!!
I’m so thankful for this truth, Joanne.
so many different parts of life that build to what our future will be. We should be more cognizant of that eh? FMF14
What a great thought – each scene prepares us for the next and they build on each other. The final scene will be glorious if we are faithful! Visiting from FMF#12
At this stage of the game I have probably already gone through most of the scenes in my life, and must say Amen!!! to “The Lord was present in every scene of my life
whether it was anticipated or took me by surprise.”
