Every Friday I join a community of bloggers for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt, five minutes. Unedited. The prompt this week is … Season.
It has been a delightfully warmer fall. It almost felt like summer was hanging around just to prove the seasons would not be dictated by the dates on the calendar.
The leaves stayed green, and our potted flowers bloomed more plentifully than they did all summer.
Then just like that, the switch was flipped and the cold air rushed in. The sound of the heat coming up can be heard as the water begins to move through the baseboards.
The seasons do change.
With the changing of the month, our focus shifts. We not only notice the change in the season, we remember it is the season of thanksgiving.
Earlier this week, I read a quote:
“When joy and prayer are married, their first born child is gratitude.”
(Charles Spurgeon)
While this season is marked with gratitude, every season should also be filled with the same. In every season, whether challenging or not, should be a season of joy and prayer. Then our lives will give birth to gratitude.
Gratitude in every season of life.
“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, For His lovingkindness is everlasting.”
(Psalm 136:1, NASB)

What a wonderful quote, Joanne, joyful prayer brings gratitude!
Yes, there is always something to be grateful for in every season.
I’m grateful for this season,
I’m grateful for the fight
beyond all love and reason
against the fall of night.
I’m grateful for my enemy
who almost is a friend,
who lets me show Eternity
that I will never bend,
but stand, rather, with held head high,
katana in my hand.
It may be that I will die,
but I’ll greet Heaven’s land
with three Banzais to rock the ears
of those who thought I’d end in tears.
Thank you for this! I need to be reminded that gratitude should be in all seasons. We’ve had some wonky weather here (both literal and emotional) and it helps to focus on what I know to be true. Thanks for the reminder.
Through it all, God is God my friend. Thank you for that joyful reminder.
The change of seasons came very abruptly in my neck of the woods as well.
Love the quote by Spurgeon.
Every season offers new opportunities. May we embrace them all.
What an interesting quote, and a lovely reminder that we should show gratitude in every season! Visiting from FMF#20
Joy and prayer give birth to gratitude. I love this and I have proved it to be true. Thank you, Joanne
