As believers, we all face days or circumstances that will challenge our strength. The question becomes not if we will face them but how will we face them.

In her latest book,  “Little Strength Big God“, Debbie W. Wilson addresses this very question – How will we face the challenges of life when they come against us? How can we find strength in the Lord?

Hebrews 11 is a familiar chapter to so many. Often called the “Faith Chapter” or “The Hall of Faith”, it is in this chapter we find the list of impressive heroes of the faith. It is here we find stories of men and women whose heroic faith, and courage, encourages us as we face our own challenges in life.

In this book, however, our attention is turned to see those described differently in Hebrews 11:34:

Their weakness was turned to strength. They became strong in battle and put whole armies to flight.(NLT)

The daily struggles in life can be wearying, leaving us to feel we don’t have an ounce of strength left. It is in those very times, we can discover the strength of God.

“Our limitations become windows through which God’s glory shines.”

(from Little Strength Big God, page 21)

In going through the book, I was reminded of two verses:

But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:31, NLT)

Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary.(Galatians 6:9, NASB)

As we trust God each day, we find strength for the day. We don’t exist on yesterday’s strength, nor do we borrow from tomorrow’s strength. New strength is ours, and promised, as we trust in the Lord.

We are not to grow weary, nor lose heart, but continue to do good knowing God is working out His plan and purposes.

“Those who walk in truth protect their souls and inspire others.”

(from Little Strength Big God, page 29)

We walk through each day, hand in hand, drawing strength from God’s Word. We let the courage and faith of the examples left for us on the pages of Scripture, infuse and inspire us to walk faithfully in His ways.

“The faith that supports us through momentous times is built on everyday choices. Who we are in private is who we are. Small decisions matter.”

(from Little Strength Big God, page 30)

This book explores the lives of those who discovered their weakness turned to strength. In eight chapters, you will study the lives of those who permitted God to work through their weakness, and in spite of their weakness.

Each chapter includes five daily lessons with questions for study and reflection. There are questions for strength building, and then a closing prayer.

May we read these stories of old,
allowing them to turn our weaknesses over to God,
who will enable us to live with new strength.
