Every Friday I join a community of bloggers for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt, five minutes. Unedited. The prompt this week is … Owe.
Owe – the dictionary defines it as a debt or to be indebted.
Just sitting looking at the word reminds me of how much I owe to Jesus for paying a debt that was not His own.
Yet He did not stop there. He continues to give every day throughout life. He gives peace beyond my understanding, joy in the midst of challenging times, love beyond measure, and guidance in the most convoluted of times.
Upon typing those words, I find myself humming and the words echoing in my mind:
“How can I say thanksFor the things You have done for me? Things so undeserved Yet You gave to prove Your love for me The voices of a million angels Could not express my gratitude All that I am and ever hope to be I owe it all to Thee.”
(from, My Tribute by Andrae Crouch)
Those words truly sum it all up – “I owe it all to Thee” and so, I say:
“To the only wise God, through Jesus Christ, be the glory forever. Amen.” (Romans 16:27, NASB)
“To Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.” (Ephesians 3:21, NASB)
“Now to our God and Father be the glory forever and ever. Amen.” (Philippians 4:20, NASB)

Today I may be joining …
No-one owes me anything,
that is crystal clear,
but Satan’s holding my brass ring,
and GET ME OUT OF HERE!
Tumours in the arms and legs,
tumours in the chest.
Don’t want to be the one that begs,
nor have some futile quest,
but this is getting hard to do,
the positive ‘gainst dreadful death.
Maybe this is nothing new,
the servitude of my last breath
to rise up and play the man
believed yet worthy of the stand.
Amen. Great blog- short, simple and to the point.

I don’t think I have heard that song for decades–it was a favorite during high school and college years. This reminds me of another hymn as well: “Jesus paid it all–all to Him I owe. Sin had left a crimson stain; He washed it white as snow.” Amazing!
Your post move us to praise. We have so much to be thankful for!
a good song to now have in my head for the rest of the day, glad I stopped in. 🙂
