Every Friday I join a community of bloggers for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt, five minutes. Unedited. The prompt this week is … Have.
We have three granddaughters whom we deeply love. They have been placed in this world, at this time, by the divine wisdom and foreknowledge of our God.
But, if I am perfectly honest, some days the thought is overwhelming to me as I watch the events of this world unfold.
Every day there are reports which are alarming – countries at war, threats of coming wars, violence in our streets and schools, inflation, hatred, political unrest, and hearts grown cold.
It would all overtake me apart from reading Scripture which reminds me:
“Lord, You have been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were born or You gave birth to the earth and the world. Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.“ (Psalm 90:1-3, NASB)
There is the assurance and confidence I have, and they also have. We have God as our dwelling place. He is our shelter and our refuge. He offers hope to us when our hearts have momentarily forgotten He is faithful to every generation, even from everlasting to everlasting.
We have His throne to which we can bring every worry, every concern, every need, and every loved one. We have Him.
“You have been my dwelling place”
and they will have You as their dwelling place,
“even from everlasting to everlasting.”

Today I may be joining …
The world has really gotten mean,
hatred on the big front burner,
but all we need to do is clean
our personal own small corner,
and waves of positivity
will spread like ripples on a pond,
from neighbourhood to town to city,
and then travel out beyond
the far horizon on the sea
to wash love to a foreign shore,
and how we choose to live may be
the opening of a gracious door
to the haters who instead
may step in, smile, sit and break bread.
that is an excellent verse of comfort indeed. FMF13
“For a time such as this… “. I too look out at our young people and lament whatever part I played in making this awful world what it is today. I also pray God can somehow use me to help these young people to grow stronger in their faith than I was. I praise Him for the strength He has created them with.
Great verse to remember and ponder.
Thanks for sharing.
I’m grateful to have that dwelling place, too, Joanne.
I pray that our young people can make a difference in ways that our generations did not. It’s not too late to turn things around.
I’m so thankful we can trust Him, Joanne! He will lead, provide, and protect us. We can trust Him!
My “grandma heart” truly appreciated this post. Thank you so much!
