Every Friday I join a community of bloggers for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt, five minutes. Unedited. The prompt this week is … View.
The word prompt brought to mind a quote once heard on the radio:
“Choose to view life through God’s eyes.” (Chuck Swindoll)
The way we view life is limited as we can only see partially; and it is skewed because we see through the lens of our experiences and emotions.
Keeping that in mind, I have been trying to view world events through the lens of Scripture. Not always successful, but getting better. We need discernment and wisdom to filter what we see and hear, enabling us to see clearly and come to wise choices.
When we keep our limited vantage point in the forefront of our minds, we also remember the One whose view is all encompassing. Our God sees all things, nothing is hidden from Him. No one escapes His eyes.
His view is not clouded, skewed, distorted, or hampered. It is clear, complete, unhindered, and true.
“Remember the former things, those of long ago;
    I am God, and there is no other;
    I am God, and there is none like me.
I make known the end from the beginning,
    from ancient times, what is still to come.
I say, ‘My purpose will stand,
    and I will do all that I please.’ “
(Isaiah 46:9-10, NIV)

Today I may be joining …
I wanted to see the world
through God’s eyes and will,
and so I pointed footsteps toward
a nice steep nearby hill,
but that left me unsatisfied;
I could not see too far,
and so toward a high mountain’s pride
I followed questing star.
But still the curving of the Earth
held secrets past horizon,
and I thought it might be worth
a space flight, to be risin’
to find divine all-knowing grace,
but knew I’d just get lost in space.
Amen. Have a blessed weekend! 🙂
Oh my – the need to view current events and the days that we live in through scripture and with His view. What a challenge. A good and necessary challenge – but one I need to commit to prayer much more!!
I am thankful that the One I trust has perfect vision, and a perfect view of my life from beginning to end. â¤ï¸
