Every Friday I join a community of bloggers for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt, five minutes. Unedited. The prompt this week is … Trust.
Trust is defined as “reliance on the integrity, strength, ability, surety, etc., of a person or thing” (dictionary.com).
The word brings to mind the time when a vast army came against God’s people. Scripture tells us it was an army of 1,000,000 men and 300 chariots (2 Chronicles 14:9). King Asa deploys his armies and then does exactly what I would have done … he cried. Only difference is he cried out to God.
“Lord, there is no one besides You to help in the battle between the powerful and those who have no strength; so help us, O Lord our God, for we trust in You.”
(2 Chronicles 14:11, NASB)
There are times we can so identify with Asa and realize, we are completely powerless. There is not a single thing we can do to change or remedy the situation.
It is at those times, we throw ourselves into the hands of the only One,
Who is mighty to save.
And we trust Him.

Today I may be joining …
I don’t love being helpless, but those experiences, viewed through the rear view mirror, are precious memories!
It’s so important to remember that God is stronger than anything we face and he is never helpless!
So encouraging to be reminded that He is mighty to save us when everything seems to be greater than us. We can trust Him!
Amen. Trusting in Him brings peace and comfort. Have a blessed weekend! 🙂
Can’t do much to change it,
can’t make the devil awed,
so I guess I’ll rest a bit
and leave it up to God.
It’s not that I don’t have the strength,
for with that I’ve been blessed,
but as this goes on at length
all I’ve got is pointless,
a pencil-flare in Stygian night,
a shout against Niagara Falls,
a pretense to a human might
that falters, chokes, and stalls.
And so in last sincerity,
I ask You, Lord, to fight for me.
I find myself feeling helpless more than less. So thankful our God is mighty to save.
Trusting can be hard – but we have One in whom we can trust unreservedly as He will never let us down.
Just stopped by from FMF #21
Amen, Joanne.
Praying daily for God to change me and teach me to trust him with this abandon.
Joanne, Asa’s story is inspiring, isn’t it? Trust is something I sometimes struggle with. It can be difficult to place myself in another’s charge. But when I remember God is the one I’m choosing to trust, I can KNOW that He will take care of me, even when hard things come into my life. Now to live like this more consistently than I currently am. 🙂
