“The law of the Lord is perfect, restoring the soul; The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart.”
(Psalm 19:7-8a, NASB)
“The Bible is the book of our heart. Every time we read a book, watch television, or listen to a speaker, something is being written on our hearts. Let God write His Word on your heart. The heart sees what it loves. When we love the Lord with our hearts, we see Him in creation and in the Scriptures.
If God is your Redeemer, He can be your Strength. Live acceptably in His sight, allowing the meditation of your heart to please Him. Then your life will be what He wants it to be
Get into the Word of God and let God get into you.”

Today I am joining … Scripture & a Snapshot and Sunday Scripture Blessings .
Amen. I so often remind our AWANA kiddos that the importance of learning the scripture verses is not to memorize it long enough to recite it in class to get a piece of candy or bag of chips, but to write it on our hearts. In this way, God’s word is hidden away for some time in the future when we’ll need to rely upon it. The preparedness of knowing God’s word ensures that no situation will arise that we can’t handle, because we’ll both know how God has instructed us to handle it, and who we are to rely upon.
J.D., you are a wise man to teach the kids the “why” of memorizing Scripture. Actually, thank you for reminding us all!
Such an essential reminder–we need to read God’s Word to let it speak to our heart.
Yes, we must be in God’s Word – we can’t know him if we don’t know his word and let it speak to our hearts.
