“The rest should follow, some on planks, and others on various things from the ship. And so it happened that they all were brought safely to land.” (Acts 24:44, NASB)
“It is a common misconception that the Christian’s walk of faith is strewn with flowers and that when God intervenes in the lives of His people, He does so in such a wonderful way as so always lift us out of our difficult surroundings. In actual faith, however, the real experience is quite the opposite. And the message of the Bible is one of alternating trials and triumphs ….
In this account, we find God’s pattern for our own lives. It is meant to be good news to those who life in this everyday world in ordinary surroundings and who face thousands of ordinary situations, which must be met in completely ordinary ways.
God’s promises and His providence do not lift us from the world of common sense and everyday trials, for it is through these very things that our faith is perfected. And it is in this world that God loves to interweave the golden threads of His love with the twists and turns of our common, everyday experiences. from Hard Places in the Way of Faith

So true as we go about our days, and sometimes don’t even realize in our busy lives how much Love he does give when we’re in those twists and turns. I much prefer the quiet, calm moments; especially now with all the Covid and sad things going on. Have a happy week. Hugs
I have come to prefer the quieter moments as well. So grateful He is with us in all our every day experiences.
I love that phrase you used in the graphic. It’s so sweet to know we can meet God in the everyday “twists and turns” and not just the “mountaintop.”
Thank you, Barbara. Those words are straight from Streams which always brings encouragement to my heart.
Sometimes life’s little victories are what gives us the strength to face the next day. I like to replay the day’s event, thanking God for all He did (seen and unseen) throughout the day as I’m drifting off to sleep. I seem to wake up re-energized and ready to face the coming day and all its trials, with God’s help. Great reminders in this post ma’am. Thank you!
I so agree. Those little victories each day are like stepping stones 🙂 We build upon each victory, step by step.
I love that story in Acts – God provided safety and refuge, and He delivered on his promise when everyone obeyed. What a comfort to know that God is always with us and is never surprised by the twists and turns our lives take.
We need those stories, as they strengthen us for our own twists and turns.
