Every Friday I join a community of bloggers for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt, five minutes. Unedited. The prompt this week is … Excuse.
It’s the words we offer as an explanation for having not done something. We hope it removes the sting of fault or blame or guilt.
I’m too busy,
too tired.
I already have too many things to do.
I’m not good enough,
talented, or experienced.
There are others who can do it better.
or will be preferred.
Someone else will be able to do it.
“Therefore, to one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, to him it is sin.” (James 4:17, NASB)
We need to stop making excuses. We do what He has put before us to do, what He calls us to do, knowing –
He will help us to do it,
He will equip us,
It will be a blessing to others,
He will be honored.
“For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 1:6, NASB)

Today I am joining …
Thank you, Joanne, for your reminder this morning! Yes, if we can only trust God enough to know that we need NO excuse but can serve freely and well-equipped! Bless you!

I agree! We need to stop our excuses and move forward in faith to do the work we are called to.
So true Joanne, “He will help us to do it, He will equip us, It will be a blessing to others, He will be honored.”
Lisa, FMF #13 Excuse Her
Knowing that God is the one who enables us to do what were put here on this good earth in this time in history to do can help us overcome our excuses, Thank you for that reminder!
Paula Short had the best Emerson quote about excuses.
I loved the quote she shared as well!
Nailed it!! In my backyard and on my corner!! Thank you for sharing these words!! Deirdre FMF#1
I’m too prone to fixate on the problems or obstacles or my inabilities. But I need to focus on God’s call and enabling.
Joanne, Thank you for sharing these blessed words. So wonderfully spoken. ” For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do ( Ephesians 2:10 NIV).” This is one of the verses I hold near and dear. Blessings.
