Every Friday I join a community of bloggers for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt, five minutes. Unedited. The prompt this week is … Redeem.
The definition of “redeem” which held my attention was “to buy back; to recover” (dictionary.com).
Every day we are all given a twenty four hour stretch of time. It is ours to do with as we see fit.
“See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” (Ephesians 5:15-16, NKJV)
The meaning of “walking circumspectly” is to walk with exactness. We don’t want to walk carelessly for then we are not using our time wisely. We want to give thought on how to use the time, seeking God’s guidance, fulfilling His will.
Each day as we redeem the time, using it wisely, our lives are watched by those around us.
“Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time.”
(Colossians 4:5, NKJV)
The use of our time will have impact. We have a responsibility and our behavior and choices form our testimony to those who observe our lives.
As we make walk in wisdom,
redeeming the time,
God can use our testimony to redeem the lives of others.

Today I am joining …
I like that thought – walking in wisdom to redeem the time!
Such a call to the body of Christ. Thanks for sharing. Deirdre FMF#10
Redeem the time! I didn’t “go there” but I love that you did. I went with Big Daddy Weave!!!
scroll down through each feed
and thus show the Great I Am
that it’s not Him we need,
and that our moments are our own
to spend as we desire,
for we now are fully grown,
and don’t believe hell’s fire
can ever be the final fate
of our sophistication,
but we’ll learn a bit to late
that our incineration
came not by some heinous crime,
but from bland disregard of time.
It is always amazing to me the amount of wisdom you can pack into 5 minutes’ worth of writing! Yes, let’s spend our God-given time wisely and not fritter it away. Wonderful reminder!
I so appreciate your thoughts on redeem, JOANNE. Especially, “As we walk in wisdom, redeeming the time, God can use our testimony to redeem the lives of others.”
sometimes we forget that we are being watched…that what we do with our time matters. Good reminder

Hmm. Walking with exactness. I like that idea – being precise and planning how we walk and spend time. I have trouble with my knees and walking is sometimes painful – I am exact and precise about where I walk and how I place my feet when my knees are giving me trouble, because I know a misstep might mean a stumble or further injury. If only I could be as careful with my minutes and my hours!
