Every Friday I join a community of bloggers for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt, five minutes. Unedited. The prompt this week is … Possible.
This week we passed the one year mark for the pandemic. A year in which all our lives changed. Every aspect of our daily routines were impacted, restricted, and altered. Nothing was quite the same.
We have all felt emotions of isolation, loneliness, hopelessness, discouragement, fatigue, and anger. We miss the things we used to do each day, the people we would interact with, the ones we long to hug, and the simple joys each day would bring us.
But the last year brought more and made me realize an important truth:
“But He said, “The things that are impossible with people are possible with God.”
(Luke 18:27, NASB)
It is possible to hold onto hope on the most discouraging of days.
It is possible to offer words of encouragement.
It is possible to face each day with courage.
It is possible to show grace and mercy to those in need.
It is possible to be generous and share necessities that are hard to find.
It is possible to find laughter with those we love and miss using Facetime and Zoom.
And it is possible to draw closer to God
because He draws closer to us.
All of these were possible as we held onto the promises of God, clinging to them, trusting Him to be faithful to His Word.
“In the same way God, desiring even more to show to the heirs of the promise the unchangeableness of His purpose, interposed with an oath, so that by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have taken refuge would have strong encouragement to take hold of the hope set before us.” (Hebrews 6:17-18, NASB)
All things are possible
because it is impossible for God to lie.

Today I am joining …
Great words of Truth, Joanne, “And it is possible to draw closer to God because He draws closer to us. All of these were possible as we held onto the promises of God, clinging to them, trusting Him to be faithful to His Word.”
Yes, so true.
Yes, yes, yes! Our own hope is insufficient, so we must rely on the hope God gives through Jesus if we’re to make it through such times unbroken. When we do that, the possibilities are endless!
Thanks for your encouragement. Visiting from FMF x
If this year didn’t impact us with possibilities, I’m not sure what would!
If we can hold on to the hope
that brighter days will come,
and if we help the others cope,
’till rising of the sun,
then our joy will be renewed
in His Mighty Hands,
and the devil will then stand subdued
as he understands
that we did not let faith fail,
but walked on through the dark
knowing that the rocky trail
was well-lit by the spark
of the the Love that God alone
can bring to guide us safely home.
So true. God truly gives us a choice in our lives, doesn’t He? Irrespective of what goes on around us. Glory!
Good reminder on a day when I really needed to see it.
Thanks for sharing.
Thank you, Jo
The Word of promises here speaks to my heart and moment. You are able to break down the Word in easily digested pieces. You always have. I love that you shared, “All things are possible because it is impossible for God to lie.” and “But He said, “The things that are impossible with people are possible with God.†(Luke 18:27, NASB)
God bless you, dear sister and friend
Marilyn
