“We keep looking to the Lord our God for his mercy, just as servants keep their eyes on their master, as a slave girl watches her mistress for the slightest signal.”
(Psalm 123:2, NLT)
“This verse is a description of total reliance on God. Just as the eyes of a servant are riveted on his master, our eyes should be directed and focused on God. This is how knowledge of His countenance is gained and how God reveals Himself to us (see Isaiah 53:1). Our spiritual strength begins to be drained when we stop lifting our eyes to Him.”
(Oswald Chambers, My Utmost For His Highest, November 24)
As I read the above words, this song came to mind and so I’m sharing it. May it be a blessing! And may we turn our eyes upon Him!
Today I am joining … Scripture & a Snapshot and Sunday Scripture Blessings and Selah .
I have read several bloggers who write about the words from Isaiah this morning. As it happens, I am reading through Isaiah right now. The perfect book to prepare us for the coming of Christ! What a wonderful story of sin and redemption.
Beautiful song that I’ve not heard before! Thank you for sharing.
The entire album is wonderful. Glad you enjoyed it.
Love advent and this season as a reminder to keep those eyes and thoughts and thankfulness on Christ throughout the years. But such a special feeling this time of year.
I so agree. As our eyes look towards Him, we will see Him coming to us.
I want to slow.down this December for some serious realignment of my thoughts and plans. Eyes on the master!
Indeed, Michele.
What a beautiful song. Your posts make me think of the toddlers that I work with and how they are always watching us and mimicking what we do and say…and how Jesus tells us to have the heart of a child.
It is amazing how quickly toddlers will mimic; it only takes seeing one time. I join you in desiring to have the heart of a child. May we come to mimic only One.
