“Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life …â€
(Psalm 23:6, NLT)
As we look all around, we see hard times hitting so many – illness, unemployment, bills falling behind, isolation, and loneliness. Yet the psalmist reminds us, beckons us to say boldly of the Lord, “Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life!â€
How can we say this with confidence?
When we know our Shepherd intimately, we know with assurance His heart towards us, His sheep. We know He is the One who holds our future and nothing can touch us apart from His permission.
We recall and declare: “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.†(Romans 8:28, NLT)
As we look back over other times of difficulties, we remember there has not been a problem, nor any circumstance, where He did not cause eventual good to come out of the pain. Hindsight always reveals His hand at work and in complete control.
It simply comes down to one simple statement most of us learned as children: “Jesus loves me, this I know.â€
I love the picture the psalmist has portrayed through the use of his words. God’s goodness and unfailing love pursues us all the days of our lives.
Our Shepherd follows us, pursues us, with intention. I hope you will join me at Woman to Woman Ministries HERE as we look at our Shepherd’s intentions toward us.

Today I am joining … Inspire Me Monday and Remember Me Monday .
Even when I was running away from God, His goodness and unfailing love followed me. He is the Good Shepherd who watches His sheep always.
We are always under His watchful eye. So grateful that even when we run, He outruns us every time!
Joanne, it’s amazing to think that God pursues us with purpose and intention. He follows us with His unfailing love and goodness because He WANTS to. Now that’s something to be thankful for, even in the midst of this hard year. 🙂
Yes! Lois, He not only wants to, He wants us!
Amen Joanne, so beautifully spoken. To God be the glory. Blessings.
Joanne, Psalm 23 has been on my heart lately. I’m thankful that God used your post to keep it fresh in my mind. There must be something more he wants to say. One thing we can be sure of is that His goodness and unfailing love continues to pursue us. We only have to stop until He catches us. Happy Thanksgiving.
He will always continue to pursue and draw us to Himself. So grateful we are under His constant care and attention. May you hear all that He has yet to say from Psalm 23!
