For the month of October, our Bible Study group is returning to the devotional, Awaken, by Priscilla Shirer.
~*~*~
“I and the children the Lord has given me serve as signs and warnings to Israel from the Lord of Heaven’s Armies who dwells in his Temple on Mount Zion.” (Isaiah 8:18, NLT)
Isaiah’s times were really no different than what we are facing now in our country – sin, cold-heartedness, and unbelief. We’re facing challenging times and yet, we can look forward and hold onto hope.
“The prophet’s offspring reminded him of the generational faithfulness of God, in spite of the nation’s current state of spiritual apathy.” (from Awaken, page 227)
As we look at our families, and those He places around us, we need to remember that God is still with His people and still taking His people to a destination.
He is still at work. He still does the miraculous. And sometimes, the miraculous is right in plain view.
Besides my parents (whose very presence is a miracle), and my granddaughters, the change in seasons and the sunrise this morning are symbols of God’s constant mercies on my life and on His people.
What are you perhaps overlooking amid the everyday? What other symbols of God’s truth and goodness are intended for your ongoing encouragement?
May we all be on the lookout for God’s ongoing encouragement
for it truly is all around us.

Today I am joining …
Joanne, thank you for the reminder to look around. I don’t have to look far to see God’s faithfulness in my life. I see His mercies in the world around me too. And when I stop to think about the people I love best in this world and how many of them are still here, that’s mercy too. Thanks for the exhortation to look around me. 🙂
