“Later, when Jesus was alone with the twelve disciples and with the others who were gathered around, they asked him what the parables meant.” (Mark 4:10, NLT)
“As you journey with God, the only thing He intends to be clear is the way He deals with your soul … There are vast areas of stubbornness and ignorance the Holy Spirit has to reveal in each of us, but it can only be done when Jesus gets us alone. Are we alone with Him now? Or are we more concerned with our own ideas, friendships, and cares for our bodies? Jesus cannot teach us anything until we quiet all our intellectual questions and get alone with Him.”
(Oswald Chambers, My Utmost For His Highest, January 13)
Today I am joining … Scripture & a Snapshot and Sunday Scripture Blessings .
I had three days alone this week at a cozy hotel on the Oregon coast-my own personal spiritual retreat to recoup from some spiritual depletion. It was so very good, and yes, God showed me some areas of my own stubbornness!
Thanking God that he made me so he knows my stubborn-ness, but he has been retraining so many areas that needed work in my life. Great reminder post of needing alone time with the Holy Spirit.
Getting alone with Jesus is such an important part of my spiritual growth. When I don’t have that alone time, I start feeling antsy. But I have to be intentional about it. Thanks for this beautiful post of encouragement to stay intentional.
