Each Friday my writing stems from a word prompt. Five minutes, one word prompt. The prompt this week is … Value.
“Value” according to several dictionaries means “the regard with which we think something deserves; the importance, the worth or usefulness of something.”
When we purchased our home, we had it appraised to make certain the price being asked was truly the worth of the home. We researched the town we would purchase into to try and determine if the value of our home would appreciate. The other criteria important to us in determining the value of our home to us were the school systems, the taxes, and the commute to work.
Our home now has value to us for reasons outside of our original wishes.
The memories stored here are priceless. The comfort we experience each time we arrive home is of greater value to us and keeps us staying in our home year after year.
Opening my Bible brings the very same feelings to my soul. Favorite passages bring me comfort and call me back to read them over the years. His words bring peace, a sense of order to my days.
As I thought on the word prompt and the word “value”, the Scripture came to mind which states that Scripture is God-breathed and inspired. Turning to read it, I wondered how it would read in another version …
“The whole Bible was given to us by inspiration from God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives; it straightens us out and helps us do what is right. It is God’s way of making us well prepared at every point, fully equipped to do good to everyone.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17, TLB)
Scripture –
has the utmost value
as it prepares and equips for life each day.
Your words are so true! Scripture contains the words of God. It’s what we need to live and grow. Recently, I’ve felt prompted to memorize more Scripture. It’s harder as I get older but oh so valuable. Beautiful post-Joanne. Visiting from FMF #9
The Bible is such a gift to us. Love this post!
