“But Lord,” Gideon replied, “how can I rescue Israel? My clan is the weakest in the whole tribe of Manasseh, and I am the least in my entire family!” (Judges 6:15, NLT)
“It’s often when you are faced with seemingly impossible tasks that you learn the most about yourself and God. At that moment when you feel you can’t go another step, or will never make it through the schedule of intense meetings, or cannot dig out from under the laundry pile, you find out, in fact, you can.
Gideon was staring at an impossible task. Now an angel had come to tell Gideon he was the man for the job.
The key was, Gideon just had to show up. That’s all God wanted. Even with the assurance from God, though, Gideon’s insecurity begged for a sign. But can you blame him? He was facing an army. That’s almost as bad as the laundry pile.
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me recognize that I don’t have to tackle my challenges all on my own. Amen.”

Today I am joining … Scripture & a Snapshot and Selah and Spiritual Sundays .
It is often writing that first word or taking that first shaky step on a long journey that is the hardest. We need to just show up and trust in God. Happy Thanksgiving!
Laurie, I have often heard it said that beginning is the hardest part of the journey. May you and your family also have a blessed Thanksgiving!
I had to drive somewhere to tackle a specific challenge this week, and I prayed through the entire drive. God was faithful in helping me through that challenge successfully. He never leaves me nor forsakes me!
Julie, I have done the very same thing in the past. Driving into Boston used to be a challenge for me and God has brought me to the point where I now find it easy. I can so relate to this. May you have a blessed Thanksgiving!
Funny that we feel like laundry is an impossible task, isn’t it? And yet I think we’ve all been there! 😉 How encouraging to know that God equips us and strengthens us for the truly humanly impossible tasks (like Gideon’s) and for simply carrying on when it seems impossible that we’ll ever reach the end of our daily chore list.
Like you, I find myself grateful that God gets us through all that would seem impossible and overwhelming to us. May you have a blessed Thanksgiving. And thank you for hosting the linkup each week!
