When I was asked if I would be willing to review the next two books in the Tales of Buttercup Grove series, I quickly and excitedly responded “yes”. I had already had the joy of reading the first two and they were wonderful. Wendy Dunham and Michal Sparks have once again delivered two books sure to delight young readers aged approximately from three to eight.
Autumn Is for Apple Pie is the whimsical story of how friends can make a bad day better. Skunk decides to bake an apple pie and invites Raccoon to come help. Along the way to Skunk’s house, Raccoon pass friends who are lonely and invites them to come along as well.
Each of his friends brings an ingredient, and the act of baking can become a party which spread cheer to all.
“Be kind and compassionate to one another.” (Ephesians 4:32)
Winter Snow Fun is the tale of friends waiting for the first snowfall. When they wake up to their world blanketed by white fluffy snow, the fun begins for our animal friends.
They sled, they build a snowman together, and they have a snowball fight of a different kind.
In this story, children will learn plans often change unexpectedly but it doesn’t always mean the end of our fun.
“A cheerful heart is good medicine.” (Proverbs 17:22)
The characters are once again endearing. The group of animal friends will teach children the deep value of friendship and the encouragement which is found in friends.
There are also many free resources available at the website – talesofbuttercupgrove.com. Be sure to take advantage of them as they beautifully go along with each book. Puzzles, mazes, and word search puzzles are just a few of the activities waiting for your child.
You can read my review of the first two books in this series HERE. The series would make a wonderful gift [Christmas is coming…] for young readers.
