Each Friday my writing stems from a word prompt. Five minutes, one word prompt. The prompt this week is … Different.
It seems funny to see a word prompt that already has been in my thoughts for a few days in a different way.
‘Different’ according to the dictionary means “not alike; distinct; unusual” and we are called to be different. We are not to be like the world or the society around us.
The world gets harsher and crazier every day. Pausing this morning to think on this word, brought me to a Scripture I have been settling on for days:
“But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!” (Galatians 5:22-23, NLT)
If we are going to be different, distinct, and not like this world, we are going to need the Lord to make us different. He must be the One to set us apart.
To make a difference, we must be different.
The little drummer boy had it right:
- We must come and see the new born King.
- We must lay our finest gifts before the King.
- We must honor the King.
May we keep step with Him and march to the beat of a different drummer.
Today I am joining … Five Minute Friday and Faith On Fire and Faith Filled Friday and Faith ‘N Friends and Fresh Market Friday .
The fruit of the Spirit makes us different. And against such good, there is no law. It’s how others see Jesus in us. But we can’t do it alone. I stand with you in honoring our King.
Great reflection on the word different. Merry Christmas!
Amen, Joanne! We must yield to the change the Holy Spirit wants to make in us.
Love this version of Little Drummer Boy!
“To make a difference, we must be different.” Amen, Joanne. Sometimes we don’t want to be different, but in our uniqueness is where we can find our greatest purpose.
