Each Friday my writing stems from a word prompt. Five minutes, one word prompt. The prompt this week is … Story.
Whether we see ourselves as a storyteller or not, each of our lives is telling a story. There are parts of our stories we love to tell as they make us split a side laughing with each retelling. And there are those, we hardly ever utter as the memory is one we would prefer to forget.
No one – other than me – will get to write my story. This morning I am reminded that with every sunrise our story just begins:
“The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.” (Lamentations 3:22-23, NLT)
Each of our lives is our personal story, the telling of our journey with our Savior. It is as unique to us as each snowflake, which also are one of a kind creations.
Every tear, heartache, mistake, and difficulty tells as much a part of my story as the laughter, successes, and blessings. They weave in utter perfection to tell the story of how Jesus is intricately, and personally, involved in every detail of my life.
Every morning we open our eyes and are immediately faced with a choice –
Will we lift our eyes up to gaze on the One Whose story our lives will tell?
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long;
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long.(Lyrics from the old hymn, Blessed Assurance)
Today I am joining … Five Minute Friday and Faith On Fire and Faith Filled Friday and Faith ‘N Friends and Fresh Market Friday .
His mercies are new every morning. I also love the song Blessed Assurance. Thank you for this great reminder to start my day anew and let God direct me.
One huge amen to Lamentations 3! That verse inspires me so much. I’ve actually just written a book that celebrates the Bible as story – following four Bible characters who wrestled with waiting, and found God. It’s being published in 10 days, so my head is full of it right now and I’ve got that pre-publishing panic! But it feels so good to have told these Bible stories so it feels like we’re living them, and have them rewrite our own stories, too. If you wanted to check it out, I’d be most chuffed. https://www.amazon.com/Those-Who-Wait-Finding-disappointment/dp/1910786861/ref=sr_1_20?ie=UTF8&qid=1507292890&sr=8-20&keywords=those+who+wait
All the best! Visiting from FMF
Yours is a beautiful story, Joanne. I love getting to read about it. ((Hugs)).
Love that song! May my story bring Him glory! I know your’s does!
So much THIS: “Every tear, heartache, mistake, and difficulty tells as much a part of my story as the laughter, successes, and blessings. They weave in utter perfection to tell the story of how Jesus is intricately, and personally, involved in every detail of my life.” I posted a video of Blessed Assurance along with my post today. I’m in the 7 spot!
I agree with this as well! We are our own story and with every decision, choice and turn we are writing new pages. May we look to Him for the way in which to live and for the great ending to our life story. Thanks for sharing. (Stopping by from FMF) Happy Friday to you!
Thank you for these words. They speak such truth!!
We all have a story – and how wonderful to know that ours tells His – as you put it! Thanks Joanne
“No one, other than me will get to write my story.” This truth brings such hope!
