Each Friday my writing stems from a word prompt. Five minutes, one word prompt. The prompt this week is … Collect.Â
As soon as see the word prompt, I remember the verse. I have this problem I have struggled with since I was a kid. My brother often teased me by calling me “water buckets”.
Yes, I cry.
At the drop of a hat.
My emotions tend to squirt out my eyes. This means I cry when in pain, in sadness, in happiness, during laughter, in woundedness, and in anger. Sitting with others, the tears will roll as they share their own struggles.
This can be a source of embarrassment at times, until I remind myself of this one truth:
“You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each on in your book.” (Psalm 56:8, NLT)
God will remember our tears and will not forget about us in our times of emotions. God is on our side. He remembers all that has occurred in our lives. He is a tenderhearted God who weeps along with us. Our tears matter to God.
Our tears are not cried in vain. He knows each of us individually and intimately and He will remember.
One day we will sit with Him and remember our tears. And on that day, He Himself will wipe every tear from our eyes and there will be more cause for tears (Revelation 21:4).
There will only be the collection.
Today I am joining … Five Minute Friday and Faith On Fire and Faith Filled Friday and Faith ‘N Friends and Fresh Market Friday .
I also take comfort from that verse. After a particularly tough week, your reminder was needed. Thank you!
That verse always reassures me of God’s deep concerns for each of us. Grateful it spoke to you as well today. Blessings!
Thank you dear Joanne for your transparency here. I love how you point us to Our Father who keeps all our tears and sorrows. May God bless you today, Julie
It is amazing to realize that what we feel each day matters to our God. The depth of His love and concern for us is overwhelming. Blessings!
That wonderful verse came to mind in my 5-minute writing this week, too. Such wonderful imagery — and comfort! This is my first time here, so I’m going to peruse awhile. It seems we may have much in common.
I wanted to think of a scripture and this one is perfect.
As soon as I saw the prompt, the verse immediately came to mind. xo
Joanne, I am right there with you. I cry at the drop of a hat too. I love the image of God collecting our tears in a bottle. Beautiful! If we ever meet in the flesh, I’ll be sure to being Kleenex for us both! I’m in the #3 spot this week.
Tara, you bring the tissues and I will bring tea and chocolate. And we can boast on the goodness of our God to us both! xo
This is one of my all time favorite verses. And your graphic is gorgeous. I often share this verse with people in my GriefShare support group. I will, if it’s OK with you, make copies of your graphic to give as a reminder.
Debbie, of course you may share the graphic. It blesses me to think that it may bless others.
