“With all my heart I will praise you, O Lord my God. I will give glory to your name forever.” (Psalm 86:12, NLT)
Maturity is produced in the life of a child of God on the unconscious level, until we become so totally surrendered to God that we are not even aware of being used by Him. When we are consciously aware of being used as broken bread and poured-out wine, we have yet another level to reach – a level where all awareness of ourselves and of what God is doing through us is completely eliminated. A saint is never consciously a saint – a saint is consciously dependent on God.

I love that photo and that wonderful old hymn! That quote by Oswald is especially powerful and convicting as well!
Our faith walk is such a beautiful mystery: “Maturity is produced in the life of a child of God on the unconscious level, until we become so totally surrendered to God that we are not even aware of being used by Him.” I’m glad we don’t have to have it all figured out in order to enjoy it! 🙂 Thanks, Joanne.
So, here’s the thing Joanne – and it will come as NO surprise to you!
I love Oswald – he and Biddy are two of my heroes of the faith.
I love that old hymn and immediately began to hum it Friday morning when I discovered the FMF prompt. I didn’t write this week though – with a house full of family and activity and took a pass.
You said enough in this post. You said more than enough because HE IS! I’m surrendered and sanctified. Praise His Name.
And you have moved me to absolute tears this morning. Thank you for encouraging me to stay fully surrendered to share only those words He places on my heart. xo
