“Now may the God of peace make you holy in every way, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ comes again. God will make this happen, for he who calls you is faithful.” (1 Thessalonians 5:23-24, NLT)
“Am I fully prepared to allow God to grip me by His power and do a work in me that is truly worthy of Himself? Sanctification is not my idea of what I want God to do for me – sanctification is God’s idea of what He wants to do for me. But He has to get me into the state of mind and spirit where I will allow Him to sanctify me completely, whatever the cost.”
(from My Utmost For His Highest by Oswald Chambers)
Today I am joining … Give Me Grace and Spiritual Sundays and Word of God Speak .
Joanne, this is beautiful and so important. I find myself praying these days, “Your ideas, God, not my own,” because I am so limited in my focus. Thanks for these Sunday visits with O.C.
Michele, there is always something to be gleaned from O.C. May He expand our focus as we let Him fulfill His ideas in our lives.
Beautiful! I need to be reminded often what “Sanctification” is because I forget and try to lead my life rather than letting God do what He already planned. I believe my post today on the power of yes is a good parallel to yours. Happy Sabbath friend!
Mary, your post beautifully parallel’s mine! I love when God does that. I am putting your link here > http://passagethroughgrace.com/sabbath-offerings-power-yes
Blessings!
That photo is amazing! “Sanctification is not my idea of what I want God to do for me – sanctification is God’s idea of what He wants to do for me.” This part of the quote convicted me deeply. I’m too often guilty of telling God how I think He should change me, and even how He should change others!
Elizabeth, you are so right! We can have plenty of ideas on how change should look in others. May we let Him work out His ideas in each life. So glad you added your thoughts!
