It’s Friday!!! I’m joining Kate Motaung for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt. Five minutes. No editing. Many of us writing on that same word.
Today’s prompt is … Easy.
I look at the word prompt and wonder, “Easy? What’s that?”
We have often said if there was an easy way and a hard way to do something, we have always done it the hard way.
Easy —> requiring little or no effort. Not difficult. Free of discomfort or pain.
I think of Dad’s little button that, when pushed, shouts the Staples mantra,
But life is not always easy. We face unexpected twists and turns causing us to hold on, with tenacity, to the One who is always us.
I am not sure where the myth of “Easy” began as my God never promised a life full of “easy”. From the beginning, we see “hard”. The promise which we have been given is that in the midst of “hard”, we are able to have more of Him with us.
More of His strength,
His peace,
His joy,
His wisdom,
His Presence.
And as I write these words, I am reminded of one easy He does promise ….
Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you, who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30, NLT)
Today I am joining … Five Minute Friday and Faith Filled Friday and Grace & Truth .
Love this. I could not find a Bible verse with the word easy and I searched google. HA! Who would have thought that easy button. Love it.
Debbie, the button was all that came to mind when I read the prompt 🙂 And then the question, “What do I do with that?” It is amazing how one word can make us think deeply in ways we might overlook. Glad you stopped here!
The difficult makes us rely on our faith and allow it to grow. Thank you so much for sharing. Visiting from FMF #29. Have a blessed day!
It was a wonderful word prompt wasn’t it? It sure made us all think and appreciate both the hard and easy in our lives.
I love that verse, especially from the Message. So thankful for faith and rest, especially on the days that aren’t so easy. Happy Friday, friend. xoxo
Me too, Kristin. It those moments when we can take that big breath in and let out a sigh of relief that we are certain He gets us through the day!
My son used one of those buttons in a sermon a few years ago, love it!
You are right, He didn’t promise us a rose garden but He did promise He would be there â¤ï¸
I love it, Nannette! Too funny!
Love that Matthew verse. Brings so much comfort. And the red easy Staples button I had completely forgotten about that. Visiting from FMF where I’m in the #6 spot.
The Staples button was the very first thought when I read the prompt 🙂 It is amazing how we all think so differently which is what makes FMF such a great linkup!
I love God’s math and weights and measurements (two shall become one, my burden is easy). His grace is ongoing and always surprises (especially when we fear we can’t carry the burden, only to find out that with him it’s actually easy).
You are absolutely right, Anita. With Him, we find out the burden is much easier as His grace is always sufficient. Blessings!
So true that God never promised it would be easy. i don’t know why we think it should be sometimes. But it is reassuring that he is with us even when it’s hard and that we can cast our burdens onto him.
Carly, I think the expectation of “easy” is a lie we have bought into so that we become disappointed in and with God. May we realize that while life may not be easy at times, He always gives us the grace to get through. Blessings!
It would be easy, now, to die.
I choose to live.
