In this last week of studying in the Psalms, we focused on this thought … “He satisfies completely. Therefore, I will choose to be filled by Him.” There is a lasting satisfaction and fulfillment which comes only from spending time with Him.
- Psalm 63. When we are dry, longing for Him – He gives us what exactly we need – which is usually more of Him, of His Word. “O God, you are my God; I earnestly search for you. My soul thirsts for you; my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water.” (Psalm 63:1, NLT) We need to ask ourselves >> Do I crave Him? Am I letting Him satisfy me?
- Psalm 36. “For you are the fountain of life, the light by which we see.” (Psalm 36:9, NLT) May we remember this when we can’t see clearly in a situation. May we ask Him to come and shed light for us. Just because we are unable to see through a situation does not mean that He is unable to see through it. Darkness is as light to Him and He can help us to see as well.
- Psalm 84. I think in today’s day and age, we forget how important the Temple was to the people. For them it was a pilgrimage, a journey, and they took the journey.ĆĀ There is a strength which comes from being with God’s people. The pilgrimage they took to the Temple, was often taken in large groups. We need community with other believers. May we not think we can do it on our own. “What joy for those whose strength comes from the Lord; who have set their minds on a pilgrimage to Jerusalem.” (Psalm 84:5, NLT)
- Psalm 91. “He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection.” (Psalm 91:4, NLT) His promises are our protection. This stresses the importance of knowing what He has promised us. It brought to mind Philippians 4:6-9. There we are encouraged to “tell God what you need and to thank Him for all He has done.” His peace guards our hearts and minds. We are to fix our thoughts on that which is true, honorable, right, pure, lovely and admirable.
- Psalm 65. He wants us to come to Him (verse 2). He faithfully answers our prayers (verse 5). He inspires shouts of joy (verse 8). “You crown the year with a bountiful harvest; even the hard pathways overflow with abundance.” (Psalm 65:11, NLT) Even that hard path you’ve been on, yes (!!!), it will overflow.ĆĀ I want some overflow of joy, hope, and victory. How about you? What are you desiring to overflow in your life?
“God will answer all our question in one way and one way only. Namely, by showing us more of His Son.” (Watchman Nee)

Thanks for mining the gems out of these passages for us, Joanne. They are all very comforting, but I especially like your words about Ps. 65, because you remind us of God’s redemption of the trials we face. That’s such an important thought–one that I cling to whenever I’m going through a trial (which more times than not!). I hope you have a great week, my friend!
Beth, I loved that verse in Psalm 65 when I read it last week. I’m not sure I have read it in the NLT before & the wording gives such hope.
Beautiful encouragement – each one. I especially like the visual of God covering us with His feathers – it makes me feel so protected, so comforted – so His! Wishing you comfort and protection in your week! Thank you for blessing mine!
It truly is imagery which speaks of protection. His promises are our armor & protection because He is faithful to His Word. Grateful you shared!
Thank-you for sharing these passages from the Psalms. Thinking about Psalm 84, when we were in Israel we visited the steps up to the temple, the place where the songs of ascent were sung by the people of God. It called to mind the people of God, praising Him together. I agree, we are blessed by being in community!
It had to be amazing to stand on those very steps! I cannot even imagine. The site where those very songs of ascents were sung. Amazing!
Oh, I always need encouragement to ‘pilgrimage’ with others. I’m just too darn self-sufficient and forget that I need to live in and be part of community. Thank you for the reminder!
Anita, you & me both. May we both learn to the blessing of journeying with others š
Oh I love this reminder that He alone is the One who can quench our thirst! I can forget that sometimes, but He is gracious is calling me back! Stopping by from #SmallWonders today and so glad that I did!
Karrilee, it is amazing how He knows to calls us back. Or maybe it is the discomfort of being thirsty. Either way, may we always come to Him, our source.
Loved this post and your words! Remembering that God cares in every aspect of our lives. Thanks for encouraging me with these bible verses that remind me I can run to Him always. He is there for me! Nothing and no one can satisfy me!

Thank you for encouraging me, Tayrina. May we always remember our Source of true & lasting satisfaction. Have a blessed Sunday!
I’m definitely working toward the overflowing joy, hope and victory. Keeping His word daily each morning is like hitting the reset button. His Mercies are New each morning. Oh how I love that promise. Thank you for the encouraging words to go forth and rely on His promises.
And don’t we all need a reset button. So glad you added that. Have a blessed Sunday!
Thank you for pointing out particulars from God’s word. I actually have enjoyed reading other’s comments as well because it’s always amazing to see what hits each reader. I loved this line: His peace guards our hearts and minds. Probably because that’s what I needed for today! Thank you for letting God use you today!
Carol. I am always grateful for comments & thoughts which are shared as they truly add much to my own life. May we hold onto His promises each day for they truly will keep our hearts & minds. May you have a blessed Sunday!
I love the Psalms. I think we should read through them at least once a year. They remind me so much that I am not alone in the crazy thoughts and feelings I have sometimes š
Laura, you are so right š They make me realize I may be in good company! So grateful for you & for the series you are doing on depression. You have no idea how I have shared it & how many have appreciated your words. So grateful God crossed our paths! Blessings!
