Who knew that one word would constantly be in my face? Sure it’s my #OneWord365 but ever before me, constantly weaving through my thoughts?
I woke up early Sunday morning, poured some coffee and spent time reading this goodness. Do yourself a favor and bless yourself with this post. You’ll thank me, trust me on this. The post narrowed down to this for me:
“Conscientiously “wasting†time with God enables me … to merely be still and know that God is God.â€
And there we have it – the question on the table – Do we truly know that God is God?
No exceptions. At all times. In all circumstances. In everything which occurs in our lives. Every single day. Every single moment.
God is God.
We can say we do with a casualness which reveals a shallow understanding of Him. God needed to remind His people of Who He was …
You are my witnesses,” declares the Lord, “and my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed, nor will there be one after me. I, even I, am the Lord, and apart from me there is no savior.” (Isaiah 43:10-11, NIV)
God needed to remind them of who they were and why He had chosen them. They, and each one of us, have been chosen so that we may know and believe Him. Knowing and believing seem to be linked together, sort of piggy back on one another, if you would.
Knowing about Him is not an end in itself. Knowing Him must include recognizing His power and understanding He is Who He says He is and is able to do all that He says He can do. It involves being fully committed to Him and acknowledging He is worthy of our trust.
It is knowing which confidently rests in the truth, God is God.
I’m searching inside and asking myself, “Do I know and believe that God is God, in this moment, in this situation, in every situation?â€
Lifting my eyes upward this morning so I can know and believe God IS God.
Today I am joining … Testimony Tuesday and Unite and Titus 2 Tuesday and True Story and Teaching What is Good and RaRa Linkup .
**My “believe†image was compliments of Traci Michele.
Moving God from head knowledge to heart knowledge – that is the key! and the challenge…
That is so the challenge, Lisa. Grateful He helps us to do so.
“God is God.” That phrase alone is powerful. So encouraging and comforting!
You are so right, Heather. Those words alone are so powerful. May we keep our focus – God is God!
Amen. It’s only by spending time with him that our knowledge moves from our head to our hearts :).
And I am grateful He helps to move it into our hearts. Blessings!
We all need to lift our eyes on God. See Him as He is. God is God when I am happy, lonely, sick, miserable, or in any stages of life. It is how I see Him that changes. My prayer is to see Him as He is. The one who loves me unconditionaly.
So true, Joy. No matter where we are in life, may we remember that God is God.
Thank you for sharing this with us today! I think there is a wealth of difference between knowing about God and really knowing who He is and living our lives with that personal relationship. Your wisdom is much appreciated on this! God bless 🙂
Grateful you stopped here! May we know Him, believe Him & understand He stands alone.
My favorite Bible verse! Psalm 46:10 Enjoyed your thoughts! Thanks for sharing!
So grateful you stopped here. May you find yourself resting confidently in the truth that God is God!
He is God and is a rewarder to those who diligently seek Him. Wait in His presence and allow His Holy spirit to flow over you. Yes, you can KNOW God in His fullness as you are still and wait. Thank you for sharing with us here at “Tell me a Story.”
So grateful He delights in being in relationship with each one of us.
What an inspiring post! I think it’s easy to say we believe but living as though we do is something entirely different. I’m reading an excellent book, Chasing God, which delves into this topic a lot. Sometimes simply saying believe even when we don’t feel his presence is the most faith filled thing we can do. Thanks so much for sharing at #RaRaLinkup today.
Is this the book by Angie Smith? If so, it is on my “to read” list 🙂 Perhaps it should be next up!
Hi Joanne, I’m sensing that same freedom and space for God to be God in our life that I’ve been seeing around different blog posts. And I’m longing for that quiet freedom to hear Him in the stillness and know that I know He is there and He is God. Isaiah 43:10-11 is great for meditating.
Thank you for stopping by last Monday. I’d like for you to come and read what the Lord put on my heart for this week. It’s something deep within my heart and I’d like you to be there. Thank you.
Janis
Janis, I have so appreciated reading your posts. May we still ourselves before Him each day & let Him do a work deep in our hearts. Blessings, friend!
He is all I can count on … every moment of every day. So much going on around and about our world is heart-breaking to me. Trusting and rejoicing Him is all that counts. Thanks for sharing.
It is so true. Grateful that we can count on Him, every moment of every day. He holds all things together by the power of His word (Col. 1:17). Blessings!
