It’s a new year. Think about it – 365 days lie before each of us and not one of us truly knows what those days will hold. There will be days of laughter and joy mixed in with some difficult days and probably some tears.
There is only One Who knows what each day will bring us!
I’ve been working my way through Beth Moore’s video study on Deuteronomy lately. Excellent by the way. So I found it funny that the very first Scripture I would read this new year, from a completely different source, would also be from Deuteronomy …
“The land you are … to take possession of is a land of mountains and valleys that drinks rain from heaven. It is a land the Lord your God care for; the eyes of the Lord your God are continually on it from the beginning of the year to the end.“
(Deuteronomy 11:11-12).
The year ahead will probably hold many ups and downs for each of us. But here’s the thing – we get to drink from the rain from heaven – God’s Word each day. Should you so desire that is. Now if you do, I believe the trek will be easier. If you don’t, it will be a struggle and you may get stuck where you should have gone through. But He will surely provide exactly the refreshment we need each day.
Before each of us is a land (an area of our life) He desires for us to take possession. Think about it. Where is it that He is telling you, “Enough!”. The time is now. Get a hold of it.
May I ask you, what are you waiting for?
That very area is the very place the Lord your God is caring for. He’s already waiting to meet you right there. And when you and Him collide, man!!! it is going to be good, very good.
Will you be different come December 31st, 2015? Or are you going to be the same, stuck in your current state?
Go back to the verse and notice…. “from the beginning of the year to the end” – His eyes are on it! He knows what this year will bring. He’s got it all under control. He has never lost control of any minute yet to come.
Can we each believe that for this year? Are you going to join me in believing that this year?
Take possession!
From the beginning of the year to the end.
His eyes are on it!
Today I am joining … Fellowship Fridays and Faith Filled Friday and Friendship Friday and Faith & Fellowship and Blessing Counters .
I absolutely want to take possession this year…of all that He has blessed me with, called me to, and seen me through. Great encouragement, Joanne!
Grateful you found encouragement here. May we take possession of what He lays out before us & discover all that He has for us to learn – right there. Blessings!
That is a beautiful thought,Joanne. No matter where we are on the mountain or in the valley…we get to drink the same power-filled water.
I have yet to truly formulate my goals for this year but the main one that is deep is wisdom and grace to walk in His love. 😉
Blessings!
Dawn
The same water, power packed, whether in the valley or on the mountain top. And it is ours to drink in. Dawn, your goal struck deeply in me as it truly is all His love that will enable us to walk in wisdom & grace. And He gives us the wisdom & grace to walk in His love & to love others. Even the unlovely and unlovable. So grateful you shared!
beautiful! i love the fact that wherever God calls us to take possession of… He is already there & waiting to meet us! such a comforting thought!
I think we fear taking possession of a new area as we think we are entering alone. May we remember always – He goes before us. He’s there waiting for us. Blessings!
I absolutely love this post!
Thank you, Heather. Grateful you stopped here & for the encouragement.
How reassuring to know that whatever happens this year His eyes on are it – beginning to end. Always under His care and covered by His grace! Happy New Year Joanne!
Always! Amazing to truly think about. Have a blessed Sunday!
Take possession – what a neat image to start the year with. Hope I can keep holding onto it and know with God’s help I can. Thanks and happy new year!
I hope to hold onto it as well this year. It can be a challenge at times, can it not? But with His help, we can take possession of all He has for us & have a year that bears much fruit. Blessings!
