{{Today is Friday!!! It is the day I link with Lisa Jo Baker for Five Minute Friday. Here is how it works…. One word prompt. Five minutes. No editing. Lots of women. We all write on the same word.})
And today’s word is …. Release.
As soon as I saw the word, release, the article I had read earlier today came flooding back to me.
Little girls being sold into prostitution while the world sits and watches The World Cup, unaware. The faces of my little granddaughters flash before me as I realize, theirs, could be the representation of the very ones being passed along for a few minutes of selfish “pleasure”. Some of these girls are as young as ten years old. They are children, who should be totally unaware of the horror they endure. They should be playing and learning math and reading. They should not be educated in this abominable act in which they are forced.
“Lord, release them!”
How many times today I had prayed those very words for these little girls as we sat watching soccer. A common sport and behind the scenes, an evil was lurking which was destroying the lives of little girls.
It is so difficult to believe life is so devalued that we would market it for fifty cents. Little girls, under the age of 18, being sold by their parents to pimps, see prostitution as the only answer out of their extreme poverty.
“Lord, help them.”
May we become aware and take a stand against human trafficking. May we pray for girls, and boys, to be released from this horror.
And may I not forget the One who sees and is able and has come to bring ….
… release from darkness for the prisoners. (Isaiah 61:1)

Something so ugly that I don’t want to think about because it breaks my heart… Yet we do need to think about it so we can do something. Praying now, too. Lord, release these precious ones in Jesus name! Thank you for a touching post, Joanne.
