As humans, we are prone to worry and quite frankly, there is always something which we can be worried about.
It’s a familiar passage found in Luke 12:22-30 in which Jesus tells us not to worry.
It was a paragraph and two words which stood out from a recent read:
“While the brokenness of this world and the troubles that come with it are difficult, they do not have to leave us anxious … Jesus calls us to not worry by reminding us of the consistent care of our heavenly Father.”
(from ‘Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus, by The Daily Grace Co., page 111)
The words I put in bold grabbed my attention:
- ‘anxious’ – unease of mind
- ‘consistent’ – in harmony and steady continuity; free from contradiction
When we are anxious about something, our minds are not at ease. We are not relaxed or comfortable. Our thoughts are in knots; sometimes our stomachs are too.
We need to remember our heavenly Father is consistent in His care for us. He is moving in our lives in harmony with His plan and purposes. His care is in steady continuity. Let that sink in.
There is never a moment that His care for any of us is broken.
His care is steady, continuous and unbroken.
And His care for us is free from contradiction to His Word and promises!
I can well remember the first time I heard this passage taught and beautifully explained. I was 28YO and my heart was on the verge of such resentment. Hearing this parable caused me to realize how important it is to tend to the soil of our hearts. Barbara Harper explains this parable in her post Tending the Soil of Your Heart HERE.

Thanks so much for sharing my post, Joanne.
I’m so thankful we can trust God is always caring for us.
You are most welcome, Barbara! I truly am blessed and learn so much from all the posts shared each week!
It takes intentionality to take our thoughts captive and to refuse anxiety or fear, Joanne. And it takes intentionality to cultivate an abiding peace and rest in our spirits and souls.
Lisa, I think the word for today is “intentionality.” May we be intentional in taking our thoughts captive so that we are able to experience the peace Christ brings and the rest He provides. And … your post (above) was an excellent read this morning! I so appreciated that you shared it!
Thank you, Joanne for reminding us to cast our cares on Jesus! I am reminded also of the verse in Matthew 6:8, where Jesus reminds us the Father knows what our needs are even before we ask. We can rest in His unfailing love and care in any circumstance!
Good attention for us all on the contrast of anxious and consistent. I think we all are challenged by both. Consistency requires discipline and that’s often a battle for us. Thanks, my friend. 💕
There is plenty in our world to worry about! Learning to abide in Jesus is essential to life and peace.
“There is never a moment that His care for any of us is broken.” Reassuring truth.
So grateful for God’s unwavering attention!
So true Joanne, God’s care is never-ending to us.
Blessings sweet friend,
Jennifer
