“Do I still matter?”

That’s a hard question many find themselves asking at certain junctions in life. Life begins to change and we find ourselves with goals and purposes that are shifting.

Do I Still Matter? by Kim Taylor Henry is the book I didn’t know I needed. It was the book which found me, being asked to read and review, it was then shipped to me. And I am grateful to have read it.

The book is filled with encouragement. Each forty day reading has Scripture, ponderings and wisdom from the author’s life, a prayer, and a “secret.”

“Thankfully. as Christians, we can readily walk that path [the path of aging] by faith, fulfilling God’s purpose for us and discovering the secrets to a life stage of opportunities and delights. The goal is to internalize and live those secrets.”

(Kim Taylor Henry)

Kim Taylor Henry addresses what does matter in our lives including topics like our focus, our choice of perspective, our prayers, our experiences, our time spent, our families, and our faith.

She also address those things in life that do not matter like our possessions, what the world thinks, and the things we collect.

The secret the author shares at the close of each reading can help us grab hold of the unique purposes God has for us, yes, even as we grow older. Some of these included:

  • “God doesn’t determine worth by age.”
  • “Gratitude, obedience to, and trust in God will bring me the life He wants me to have.”
  • “Treat time as the gift it is.”
  • “Grandparenting is a responsibility as well as a joy.”

Throughout the book, the author shares quotes from others sure to bring comfort, hope, and inspiration.

“My prayers are important and powerful.” (Kim Taylor Henry)

“A praying saint performs far more havoc among the unseen forces of darkness than we have the slightest notion of.” (Oswald Chambers)

May we keep praying, keep believing, and stay focused,
for our lives truly do still matter,
at every age!
