Every Friday I join a community of bloggers for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt, five minutes. Unedited. The prompt this week is … Toward.
It’s been a week. Depending on your opinion and vote, you are either feeling elated or disappointed.
And now we each have a choice to make – will we let the outcome continue to be divisive and cause arguments; or will we let it bring us toward one another to encourage one another?
May we choose to come toward God first and then toward one another.
“Now may the God of patience and comfort grant you to be like-minded toward one another, according to Christ Jesus, that you may with one mind and one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Romans 15:5-6, NKJV)
Hidden in the word encouragement, we find the word we all need – courage. Encouragement brings us the courage to keep on, to press on, to not give up. Encouragement makes us stronger, braver, persistent. Encouragement keeps us from falling apart, keeps us focused on the important, builds us up and binds us together.
“I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.“
(Philippians 3:14, NKJV)
May we choose to move toward God,
and toward one another,
as we press on toward the goal.

Today I may be joining …
I love your message! I’m all in, let’s encourage one another and set differences aside.
To what end does the soft snowdrop rise?
Is its mission change, or beauty?
This is my hope and prayer, that we can stop dividing over politics and pull forward together. Sadly, I have heard of long-time friends separating over different preferences in candidates.
Incidentally, I like to use Romans 15:5-7 on wedding cards. 🙂
We both quoted from Paul in this week’s post. Excellent post! Thanks for sharing.

encouraging post, Joanne
i have to admit I don’t follow US politics all that much, people tend to keep me informed, beyond that I stay out of it. 🙂 But I like how you call people to be more than politics and be encouragers of each other. That is something to build toward. 🙂 FMF14
