Every Friday I join a community of bloggers for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt, five minutes. Unedited. The prompt this week is … Finally.
Finally can be used to conclude a statement or action. It can be used to indicate the last thing to be said or done.
Paul wrote often to the believers of the early churches. Paul was a man whose heart was to teach them, and us, how to walk with God and live out our days,
His words offer much encouragement and instruction to us:
“Finally, brethren, rejoice, be made complete, be comforted, be like-minded, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you.” (2 Corinthians 13:11, NASB)
“Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.“ (Philippians 4:8, NASB)
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.” (Ephesians 6:10, NASB)
When we finally rejoice in Him,
and finally think on these things,
we will finally be strong in the Lord.
Finally. What a powerful way to wrap it all up!
Paul had a way of doing that for us all and pointing us to what was important 🙂
When it comes down to brass tacks,
and the word that fits is Finally,
nothing else drops through the cracks
and you can face things mostly tidily
you’ll appreciate the lack of options
when they’ve melted down to one,
and you can then throw all your cautions
out, and get it done.
Choice can beget paralysis,
which begets a lassitude.
Laying down analysis
and lifting up your fortitude
may just be the best of ways
for living Christ through all your days.
I love the flow of these words. They carry me on to see Christs hands in your life.

I love the reassurance of Ephesians 6:10.
God’s Word is our link to like-mindedness. We can think with discernment, stand on His foundation and love freely.
Yes, I love how you worded it! I’m grateful you shared.
Paul’s letters have so much encouragement for growing in faith.
We have such a future ahead of us! Finally is a sweet prospect!
Paul always wrapped things up so well. My thoughts on “Finally” went in a similar direction. Visiting from FMF#11
He truly did and in so doing, always pointed us to what was most important.
Encouraging words.
Those are all very good finally’s aren’t they? 🙂
3 wonderful ‘finally’ concluding exhortations from Paul. Thank you, Joanne
