Every Friday I join a community of bloggers for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt, five minutes. Unedited. The prompt this week is … Limit.
Upon seeing the word prompt, various idioms came flooding into my mind:
- “the sky’s the limit”
- “off limits”
- “stretched to the limit”
- “go the limit”
- “the absolute limit”
- “within limits”
But then the sayings began to slow down, I realized our God has no limit …
- Limitless grace. “After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you.” (1 Peter 5:10, NASB)
- Limitless love and faithfulness. “Your lovingkindness, O Lord, extends to the heavens, Your faithfulness reaches to the skies.” (Psalm 36:5, NASB)
- Limitless lovingkindness. “The Lord’s lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, For His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.” (Lamentations 3:22-23, NASB)
- Limitless power. “But He said, “The things that are impossible with people are possible with God.” (Luke 18:27, NASB)
- Limitless knowledge and understanding. “Great is our Lord and abundant in strength; His understanding is infinite.” (Psalm 147:5, NASB)
Man is limited in his abilities, knowledge and strength;
But our God is limitless –
bask in Who He is today.

Today I may be joining …
God has got a red Ferrari,
like Magnum, yeah, a 308,
and you will be really sorry
if you jump inside too late,
’cause God, He likes to drive real fast,
and you gots to get used to Him
and the blessing He has cast
upon a world that’s gotten grim.
So step real lively and make haste,
keep up with God Velocitor.
There really isn’t time to waste
to snap to it and ensure
that we’d preached to all we’d find,
leaving not a soul behind.
Joanne, your ability to create an inspiring and meaningful message in five minutes never ceases to amaze me. The message comes through loud and clear. With God, there are no limits. (It’s only us humans that are limited). Thank you for sharing.
I read somewhere that one purpose of our limitations is to remind us that we are *not* God–He is the only one who is limitless. That helped me deal with my own limits. Glory to Him for being ore than enough for us all.
*more than enough.
Amen! when we reach our limit (and even before that) we should look to God. It’s so hard to do! I’m such a control freak! LOL – FMF#2
for sure indeed! FMF11
