Every Friday I join a community of bloggers for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt, five minutes. Unedited. The prompt this week is … Blame.
I have done plenty wrong in my life thus far, and I am sure, I will be to blame for yet more. It’s not an admission made proudly for some outcomes I brought upon myself.
Yet in accepting the blame, in recognizing my own shortcomings and faults, it has brought forgiveness. Forgiveness from others, and more so, forgiveness from God.
As I come before God, humbling myself, confessing the wrong I have done, accepting the blame, He offers complete forgiveness. My slate is wiped clean of all wrongs and blame.
“For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight.”
(Ephesians 1:4, NIV)
As we come before the Cross,
the blameless One takes all our blame,
and we are made holy and blameless before God.

Today I may be joining …
The word repentance came to mind as I read your post. Without blame there can be no turning away from the wrong or turning towards the right. So grateful for the Spirit’s conviction—even when it is unpleasant to look at!
You have chosen one of my favourite songs. What grace!
Sure, I have done plenty wrong,
but I skip ‘cross the wavey sea
and hum a little happy song
because my Mate has set me free
from all of that guilt and shame
that the ol’ world likes to place
upon my head to hold the blame,
but I just laugh and call it grace
that they think my role’s so big
that blaming me their joy is full.
They’re putting lipstick on a pig
and say the result’s beautiful.
I really do not fret nor mind,
for Christ and me leave it behind.
I second Michele’s comment.
P.S. Love the song.
Yes, Thank God for The Great Sacrifice! Now we can forgive and be forgiven and get on with livin’ !
God bless your weekend! FMF#4
One of my sons didn’t like to admit to wrongdoing as a child. I assume that was because he didn’t want to get in trouble. We had to bring up Proverbs 28:13: “Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.”
I love that hymn.
The graciousness of God is mind-boggling isn’t it? FMF14
“The blameless one takes all our blame.” What a gift. What a Savior.
This is a beautiful reminder that God is always wanting to restore us to Himself and make us new
How wonderful that Jesus washes us clean from the shame and makes us blameless before him! A good word as we head into holy week. Visiting from FMF#16
Amen!
So wonderfully spoken Joanne. I’m encouraged by your words today.
