Every Friday I join a community of bloggers for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt, five minutes. Unedited. The prompt this week is … Say.
What can I say?
It’s been a long season, a longer than usual stretch of time. It’s been a challenging time, with ups and downs.
Yesterday as I sat in the car waiting for loved ones to return to the car, it seemed like we would never get to this point.
The point of some semblance of normalcy, of running simple errands.
Yet there I was sitting in my car in a parking lot and suddenly overwhelmed with the goodness and faithfulness of our God.
And all I could say was:
-
- “Thus far the Lord has helped us.” (1 Samuel 7:12, NASB)
- “All the way my Savior leads and will lead us.” (song)
It’s true, what they say – We need to know and rely on what we know is truth. We need to commit verses and songs to our memory which will strengthen our souls and keep us going.
There is a saying that states: Don’t forget in the dark what God showed you in the light. I have no idea where it originated as I have heard it many times down through the years.
But it’s true. We need to know and remember the promises of God. They are the words we can and will rely on for all of life. They are the words which will keep us stable and steady as we recall them and say them to our souls.
“In that day he will be your sure foundation, providing a rich store of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge. The fear of the Lord will be your treasure.” (Isaiah 33:6, NLT)
Know His Word.
Remember His Word.
Say His Word.
Very encouraging and inspiring blog. God IS good and He dearly loves each one of us.

I’m sorry you’ve been through such a hard time, Joanne. I agree, in times like that it’s so important to hold onto God’s truth, to know that he doesn’t change whatever we are going through. Praying that you know his presence closely today.
Thankful for God’s sure foundation in good times and bad. Blessing, Joanne.
God is good eh? FMF19
Amen!
You have said this very well. FMF friend #25
God is good and God is cool,
in fact, I think He’s groovy,
for though my life brings ridicule
it’s really like a movie
where the cavalry comes o’er the hill
at the end of the last reel,
and it gives me quite the thrill
to think how He might feel,
think that I am yet worthwhile
for all my stupid ways
that are in His office file,
though I bet that there are days
when He face-palms to the max
at one of my dumb-attacks.
