Every Friday I join a community of bloggers for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt, five minutes. Unedited. The prompt this week is … Clarify.
Clarify —> “to become clear, pure, or intelligible” (dictionary.com)
It seems like the world is spinning out of control. Nothings seems to make sense as I look around at current events, and listen as people share their thoughts and opinions.
Lately I have even asked myself, “How did we get here?”
The only way we can make any sense of events is to bring it back to Scripture. We need to filter all of life through the lens of God’s Word. It is the only way to begin to understand world events, and keep our minds filled with peace.
The questions I find myself asking in order to clarify world occurrences have been:
- How does this align with God’s Word?
- How does God say we are to react to this?
- How does Scripture guide us to live?
- What does God’s Word say about this?
More and more, I am finding myself bringing everything back to Scripture. His Word brings understanding, even when I may not understand everything. He fills me with a settledness, a peace which brings assurance we are securely held by Him.
His Word clarifies and brings clarity
to every aspect of our lives,
yes, even in these days we are living.
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” (Psalm 119:105, NASB)

Today I may be joining …
His Word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path, Joanne! I could not live without His peace guarding my heart and mind.
I agree. God’s word is our guide. We need His wisdom for this time. I am thankful that Jesus is at God’s right hand interceding for his followers.
How did we get to this place
where the wicked is the norm?
What begat this fall from grace
in which loved values have been torn?
Why, oh why, this dreadful day
(did we not pray hard, enough?)?
Please God, help us find the way,
make it smooth, please, it’s so rough!
And God’s reply is clarity,
‘Take a long look in the mirror;
you accepted sin as parity,
and you held My Word no dearer
than need to cherish what is wrong,
just so you could get along.’
Could there be more true words to anchor a Christian’s journey in faith than these, “We need to filter all of life through the lens of God’s Word. ” Great truth here my friend. Thank you for speaking truth into so many lives.
May we always remain open to the clarity God offers.
I’m with you here Joanne, I find myself bringing everything back to Scripture too. I find myself seeking Scripture to the same questions. And You ask a few I haven’t so I’m happy to have read your thoughts today.
