Every Friday I join a community of bloggers for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt, five minutes. Unedited. The prompt this week is … Rely.
Rely >>> “to depend confidently; put trust in” (from dictionary.com).
The definition says it well for there is only One upon whom we can depend confidently and put our trust in.
“Who is among you that fears the Lord, That obeys the voice of His servant, That walks in darkness and has no light? Let him trust in the name of the Lord and rely on his God.” (Isaiah 50:10, NASB)
There are days, perhaps even today, that we feel like we are walking through life without even a bit of light. Like we are feeling our way through the dark. The answers we seek have not come but there is One who will lead the way, who has gone before us.
“Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I shall rescue you, and you will honor Me.â€
(Psalm 50:15, NASB)
On those days, we can call on the Lord. We can rely on Him to hear us, to provide answers, and rescue us from circumstances that bog us down.
And the wonder of it all is – we get to do it again each and every day.
“Relying on God has to begin all over again every day as if nothing had yet been done.” (C.S. Lewis)
We need Him.
We need Him more than we even realize,
for we need Him every hour.

Today I may be joining …
Amen. I place my trust in God.
I am so thankful we can rely on Him in the dark valleys, Joanne, for He is faithful! What a powerful quote by C.S. Lewis, Joanne, thank you for sharing it with us.
No better One to rely on, anyplace any time. (Love your choice of quote too💜🕊🌿
Yes, I’m swimming in the dark,
and the waves are getting high,
but I fear neither gyre nor shark
because I know that God is nigh,
walking slowly next to me
(for I can’t swim all that fast)
upon the spume of salty sea,
and that He’s with me to the last.
I may not reach the other shore;
that’s not the promise that He made.
He only said He’d not ignore
my part in this strange game I’ve played
for better but for mostly worse,
but nonetheless I am not cursed.
Something wonderful that just occurred to me as I was reading this – God doesn’t get tired of our complete dependence on him! We get weary sometimes of having to be the one others depend on, but God doesn’t. Beautiful post. Visiting from FMF#15
Amen to “there is only One upon whom we can depend confidently and put our trust in” and to the song.
Thanks for sharing.
Joanne I’m so happy we get to do it again each and every day. And thanks for the song. I havent heard that hymn in years.
