She wakes and comes walking into the family room still sleepy eyed. She heads to the couch to look out the windows which overlook our yard. Our five YO granddaughter had slept over and now is quietly sitting and watching out.

“When are your aminals going to come back?”

“Remember when we saw your coyote and moose?”

Oh how I long to see a moose, but I tell her, no, it was a deer. “But it had antlers.” Telling her deer can also have antlers, I answer, “I don’t know when we shall see them again. I guess we will need to just keep watching.”

As the words are spoken, a verse read another morning comes to mind:

Because of his strength I will watch for You, For God is my stronghold.” (Psalm 59:9, NASB)

“Watch” has interesting definitions but one stands out alone >> “continuous observation” (from dictionary.com).

Our watch must be unbroken.
We cannot take our eyes off of God.

“When it seems impossible, look again. When it seems evil will win, look again. When it feels like you are all alone, look again. He has not left your side. He will bring justice and we do not have to try to bring justice on our own. He will be faithful. He will keep His promise.”

(from Wait by The Daily Grace Co.)

Our trouble begins when we take our eyes off of God. When we think we can find the answer elsewhere, or even come up with a solution on our own.

We must keep watch, our eyes continuously focused on Him, assured He will bring the answer, the help, and the strength we need.

Behold, God is my helper; The Lord is the sustainer of my soul.” (Psalm 54:4, NASB)

When we look again, we will behold Him, and we will then see God is indeed our helper.

Keep an unbroken watch.
Look and look again.
Look to Jesus.

Stories. We all love a good one. This week two posts converged to make me think on the stories which make up my own life. In her post, “Our Stories – More than We Think“, Pam Ecrement writes, “But the priceless truth is there is One who knew me before.” Her post will encourage your heart. Then Lisa Brittain reminds us that our handwritten stories bring connection  to one another and to God. Be sure to read “Why does handwritten matter?” as you may just find yourself inspired to journal.
