She wakes and comes walking into the family room still sleepy eyed. She heads to the couch to look out the windows which overlook our yard. Our five YO granddaughter had slept over and now is quietly sitting and watching out.
“When are your aminals going to come back?”
“Remember when we saw your coyote and moose?”
Oh how I long to see a moose, but I tell her, no, it was a deer. “But it had antlers.” Telling her deer can also have antlers, I answer, “I don’t know when we shall see them again. I guess we will need to just keep watching.”
As the words are spoken, a verse read another morning comes to mind:
“Because of his strength I will watch for You, For God is my stronghold.” (Psalm 59:9, NASB)
“Watch” has interesting definitions but one stands out alone >> “continuous observation” (from dictionary.com).Â
Our watch must be unbroken.
We cannot take our eyes off of God.
“When it seems impossible, look again. When it seems evil will win, look again. When it feels like you are all alone, look again. He has not left your side. He will bring justice and we do not have to try to bring justice on our own. He will be faithful. He will keep His promise.”
(from Wait by The Daily Grace Co.)
Our trouble begins when we take our eyes off of God. When we think we can find the answer elsewhere, or even come up with a solution on our own.
We must keep watch, our eyes continuously focused on Him, assured He will bring the answer, the help, and the strength we need.
“Behold, God is my helper; The Lord is the sustainer of my soul.” (Psalm 54:4, NASB)
When we look again, we will behold Him, and we will then see God is indeed our helper.
Keep an unbroken watch.
Look and look again.
Look to Jesus.
Stories. We all love a good one. This week two posts converged to make me think on the stories which make up my own life. In her post, “Our Stories – More than We Think“, Pam Ecrement writes, “But the priceless truth is there is One who knew me before.” Her post will encourage your heart. Then Lisa Brittain reminds us that our handwritten stories bring connection to one another and to God. Be sure to read “Why does handwritten matter?” as you may just find yourself inspired to journal.

Such a beautiful inspirational post. Thank you.
I needed this reminder this morning, Joanne.
Oh how I needed this today, Joanne. I have been waiting on God for a specific need, and have become discouraged. Reading your post reminded me, though I still waited, I had stopped ‘watching”.
The quote from Daily Grace was spot on. Thank you!!
Amen! Yes. Let’s put our full-trust in Him. He’s got us.
A timely word, Joanne! Thank you for the encouragement to watch and wait for Him.
A good reminder in our times! Thanks, Joanne.
God’s attention to us is unwavering. May we all remember to fix our eyes on him!
What a wonderful verse. Satan is strong, but God is stronger.
Thank you, Joanne, for the reminders today. This will get me in trouble every time!
“Our trouble begins when we take our eyes off of God. When we think we can find the answer elsewhere, or even come up with a solution on our own.â€
Thank you for tagging me too. What an honor! 🌸Lisa
I love your following statement Joanne;
“We must keep watch, our eyes continuously focused on Him, assured He will bring the answer, the help, and the strength we need.” Amen!
Blessings sweet friend, Jennifer
Our focus makes all the difference. Thank you, Joanne.
An unbroken watch! This was such a good post, Joanne. I find that I must refocus so often and it is a real challenge to keep my eyes solely fixed on Jesus in these troubled times. I am going to bookmark this page. It was such a blessing to me. I pray God blesses you for your faithfulness to His call on your life.
May we always keep an unbroken watch. I love the quote from from Wait by The Daily Grace Co. That is really food for thought that we should keep in our minds.
Than you bunches for hosting.
Joanne, you are a wonderful source of songs for my playlist. 🙂 Although I’m not sure how I missed this one because Phil Wickham is a favorite. Anyway, thank you for this reminder to look to Jesus. He is where our help comes from, always. Hugs, friend.
