God’s Word always falls fresh, like it was never read before, bringing renewed hope and encouragement. It is always timely and speaks as we come before God and ask Him to speak us through His Word.
Psalm 29 describes the majesty and power of the voice of the Lord. It is He, our God, who is described — our Savior, our King!
“The voice of the Lord is powerful, The voice of the Lord is majestic.” (verse 4, NASB)
The Lord sits enthroned over the floods of life. Over every storm cloud, every sickness, disease, worry, fear – the Lord is enthroned as King forever!
“The Lord sat as King at the flood; Yes, the Lord sits as King forever.” (verse 19, NASB)
The Lord gives strength to His people as we come to Him and ask Him to give the strength we are lacking.
“The Lord will give strength to His people.” (verse 11a, NASB)
And the Lord blesses His people with peace.
“The Lord will bless His people with peace.” (verse 11b, NASB)
There it is – the Lord blesses us with peace when we embrace who He is.
And it all starts with hearing, knowing, and recognizing “the voice of the Lord.” Reading those words, I took note of all “the voice of the Lord” accomplishes.
I read 7X of “the voice of the Lord.” When He speaks, He accomplishes.
“Remember the former things long past,
For I am God, and there is no other;
I am God, and there is no one like Me,
Declaring the end from the beginning,
And from ancient times things which have not been done,
Saying, ‘My purpose will be established,
And I will accomplish all My good pleasure”.”
(Isaiah 46:9-10, NASB)
May we remember all His voice accomplishes in our lives, in our world.
And we have the privilege of knowing Him and
receiving His peace.
My days are mostly filled with the mundane. Maybe that’s why Michele Morin’s post spoke so deeply. “The Lord is my horizon, and with my eyes on him, I will stand firm.” Read “How Can I Stand Firm When the Earth is Shifting Under My Feet?” HERE.

Your reflections here encouraged me today, Joanne! It is reassuring to remember that even when life seems chaotic and a lot is changing God is enthroned over it all. We definitely need to keep listening to his voice.
I’m grateful you were encouraged, Lesley. Thank you for reading!
I’m in the psalms now and remember being struck by “the voice of the Lord” in this one. I especially love this: “It all starts with hearing, knowing, and recognizing ‘the voice of the Lord.'”
“The Lord will give strength to His people.” My prayer this morning! Thanks, Joanne.
May we never get so busy we forget this truth. Thanks, Joanne.
Thanks so much for this encouragement to keep our spiritual ears open for the most important voice in our lives–and thank you for sharing my post. You are a continual source of encouragement to me, and I’m grateful for our friendship.
So beautiful Joanne and God’s lovely voice. Thank you for your encouragement lifting me today.
Listening fo His voice, in this busy world, is so important Joanne. Quietening our Soul long enough to enter His peace & stillness to be able to listen is what I shared this week.
Blessings sweet friend, 😊
Jennifer
Joanne, Psalm 29 is a real comfort as we linger with who God really is! Thank you for inviting us deeper today!
Amen. The voice of the Lord is there if we pause and listen. 🙂
His Word, His voice, His Presence….is what sustains us, Joanne.
