Every Friday I join a community of bloggers for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt, five minutes. Unedited. The prompt this week is … Choose.
A quick look at the dictionary reveals an interesting selection of definitions … “to select from a number of possibilities; to prefer or decide (to do something): to want; desire” (all from dictionary.com).
I made a choice early on in life which has impacted every other choice I made thereafter. I chose Christ, and in so doing, every day I choose Christ.
Every decision and choice hinges on the One I choose each day.
“Now, therefore, fear the Lord and serve Him in sincerity and truth; and put away the gods which your fathers served beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. If it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve: whether the gods which your fathers served which were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.†(Joshua 24:14-15, NASB)
We can choose from a number of possibilities, but only One is the way, the truth and the life.
I have never regretted the choice I made years ago to choose Christ; and then I am reminded:
“For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight.” (Ephesians 1:4, NIV)
We choose Him, but He also chooses us; and He made the choice before the creation of the world.
“Listen, my beloved brethren: did not God choose the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which He promised to those who love Him?”
(James 2:5, NASB)
God chose us,
the poor of this world to be rich in faith.
May we choose Him every day.

Today I may be joining …
I thought, well, which god should I choose?
Are they not all equivalent?
What, then, do I have to lose?
And the night remained silent.
Maybe crystals are the way
to wake spirituality!
Sure that must be okay,
for Heaven is equality!
But then there came the dirty war,
and I was shot and I was burned,
and would not have found the door
but from a mission doc I learned
that all the youth I sacrificed
was naught beside the cost to Christ.
Hi, FMF neighbor
Sometimes I forget that I am holy and blameless in his sight, covered by the blood of Jesus. I let the world view in. I must choose to believe who I am positional and who I am becoming, and, most importantly, who I will be in heaven.
Such an encouragement to have Him choose us, Joanne, and to be given the freedom to choose Him each day.
Good reminders, Joanne.
Thanks for sharing.
Amen. Have a blessed weekend. 🙂
A worthy affirmation to make every day: I choose Christ. You are right, Joanne: it is not a choice we will ever regret! Praise God for that reality.
Thank you for the reminder that God choses us. It reminds me, too, how sufficient is His grace.
Amen! As soon as I read the title, my heart screamed out, “Choose you this day…” Oh, how the time for choosing is growing short my friend. God’s blessings.
