“O God of my praise, Do not be silent!” (Psalm 109:1, NASB)
“What do you do when heaven is silent? …
Why is God silent at times? It may be because we aren’t listening or we don’t want to listen … Sin makes us turn a deaf ear to God …
Sometimes God is silent because we aren’t ready for the message. He wants to talk to us about something, but we aren’t ready …
God is sometimes silent because He knows we aren’t willing to obey. He is always ready to show His will, but He shows His will only to those who really want to do it … Obedient people always hear the voice of God.
Finally, sometimes God is silent that He might test us – to teach us the importance of silence, the importance of waiting on Him. Waiting helps remind us of God’s sovereignty.
The silence of God is one of the difficult tests of faith. What should you do when He is silent? Remember His faithfulness and past blessings. Live today on what He has already told you. Trust Him and wait. You will hear the voice of God again.”

I love this, and needed to hear it this week. Thank you for sharing.
Good word my friend. I remember that sometimes God has us wait to teach us patience, increase our faith, and because He requires more time to help condition someone else whom He is going to use to bless us with.
“Live today on what He has already told you. ” Amen. That’s one reason it’s so important to be in His Word every day.
So grateful to know that His silence doesn’t mean He’s not with us. He’s always at work. And we don’t have to look to far back to see His hand of mercy.
“What we repeat in times of ease we will recall in times of hardship .â€
Spiritual disciplines are so crucial for getting us through times of the silence of God.
Love your Warren Wiersbe quote.
God was silent for 17 long years as I pleaded with him for another baby (I already had 2 children). Eventually, I realized that his silence was actually a “no.” No isn’t easy for us to hear, but I’ve come to realize that how we respond to the “no’s” God gives us is really the measure of our trust in Him.
I’m not good at waiting (thus the word ‘wait’ for my word of the year 😉 ). I’ve never thought much about God’s silence…maybe because when I feel he’s silent, I spend more time outside and realize he’s shouting through nature,i and I’ve just been too busy to listen.
This is the line that stands out to me: “Live today on what He has already told you.” God has already given me so many wonderful truths to live by. May I concentrate on those as I wait for the next ones…. Thanks for sharing this beautiful passage, Joanne. Glad you’ve linked this at our One Word linkup!
Remembering His faithfulness and past blessings is one of the best ways I’ve found to deal with his silence. Thank you for sharing these beautiful words, Joanne.
