Every Friday I join a community of bloggers for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt, five minutes. Unedited. The prompt this week is … Show.
A quick look at the definitions brought this insight: “to be seen or to become visible” (dictionary.com).
The definition brought to mind a familiar verse we turn to when facing challenges or decisions. It’s a prayer we offer up when choices are hard to make, and uncertainties loom before us.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.†(Proverbs 3:5-6, NLT)
There it is with its three directives and a promise. The verse speaks to my heart, “You do your part and I will do Mine.”
- Trust. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart.†The word denotes an attaching oneself to something, in the case, attaching ourselves to the Lord. It brings the idea of a safety which comes from the act of being attached. There is a security found in God alone. Whatever we may be facing, we can know God already has it all figured out.
- Depend. “Do not depend on your own understanding …â€. We do not know all things, nor what the future holds. May we place ourselves in a position of surrender, leaning on the strength and understanding which only God can bring.
- Seek. “Seek his will in all you do …â€. This will require not wanting our own way but searching out His will. We are not to go ahead with what seems to make sense to us, but patiently wait until He gives direction.
Those three actions are our part to do. When we do them, they yield the promise: “And he will show you which path to take.â€
This is the assurance we have been given. We can place our trust in Him because He is trustworthy. We are to live dependent on Him to guide us every day, moment by moment.
Trust,
depend,
seek,
and He will show you which path to take.

Today I may be joining …
God will show the long hard road,
but sometimes He won’t show it all,
for its length and your weighty load
may well cause you to fall
upon the verge in desperation,
wanting not to rise,
and your weeping hesitation
brings tears to holy Eyes.
Thus He has made comfort here,
horizoned world made round,
so our hearts may not hold fear
for what we’ve not yet found,
and we may thus our strength imbue
to what’s still hidden from our view.
I love God’s hands-on involvement and interest in our lives!
Heart trust does show through our lives, Joanne!
Thank you for the reminder of this promise, and the parts we pay in it. 😊

Needed these encouraging and comforting reminders today. God is faithful to show us which way to go when we trust and obey.
