“Will the Lord reject forever? And will He never be favorable again? Has His favor ceased forever? Has His promise come to an end forever?” (Psalm 77: 7-8,NASB)
“Asking questions is much easier than answering them. If you have children or grandchildren, you know how true that is …
It’s normal to ask questions when we are going through difficulty and pain … When we are going through difficulty, we expect God to move in, help us, and deliver us. And when we are waiting for that deliverance, we get impatient. That’s when the questions come …
But remember this: As Christians, we do not live on explanations, we live on promises …
Live by faith, not by sight. Trust the promises of the Lord. He will not change.”

I’ve seen that sentence–“we do not live on explanations, we live on promises”–in many of Wiersbe’s books. Explanations help, when the Lord allows them. I think sometimes He doesn’t give them to teach us to trust Him. But I think other times, we couldn’t understand now even if He did explain. I’m glad we can trust He is a good Father even when we don’t understand what He allows.
I love that we can go to God with all our questions and he isn’t hurt or offended that we ask. But it’s often hard to be satisfied with the answer “because he is God and I’m not” and I need to remember that he is always faithful and rest in that.
