Every Friday I join a community of bloggers for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt, five minutes. Unedited. The prompt this week is … Stretch.
Time stretches out before us, each day a twenty four hour segment of time waiting to be filled up.
There is One who is sovereign over each of our days and all of our time.
“I am the Lord, and there is no other; Besides Me there is no God. I will gird you, though you have not known Me; That men may know from the rising to the setting of the sun that there is no one besides Me. I am the Lord, and there is no other.”
(Isaiah 45:5-6, NASB)
He is the One who causes the sun to rise and set, all for the purpose of reminding us there is no one like Him. The order of time and days has a way of reminding us of the passing of time, of its preciousness.
“It is I who made the earth, and created man upon it. I stretched out the heavens with My hands and I ordained all their host.” (Isaiah 45:12, NASB)
He stretched out the heavens with His hands.
He causes the sun to rise and to set –
All to remind us that He is the Lord and there is no other.

Today I am joining …
Amen; for only God is worthy!
I am so thankful for another 24 hours that He has stretched out before me. A gift really – and I want to use those hours for His glory!
Great reminder that God is in charge of everything!
God makes the ol’ sun rise and set,
and makes green-cheese moon do the same,
and showing He ain’t finished yet,
He gives each star a name,
not like the ones astronomers
ponder, then assign;
God keeps these bright sky-wanderers
in their dancing line
with monikers beyond our ken
to match their flaming faces,
and when we leave the world of men
to dwell in their high spaces
we’ll see them as they really are,
and form a friendship with a star.
Time, it is something we are aways trying to stretch. Yet we all get the same 24 hours which God orders and redeems.
The Lord is indeed sovereign over all

A beautiful reminder, Joanne, that God stretches out the heavens.
Good morning, Joanne.
I was just listening to a pastor who was speaking about “redeeming the time”. Thanks for this lovely reminder!
Blessings,
Tammy
A great reminder to redeem the time, and a great reminder of how great our God is. Thanks.
