Every Friday I join a community of bloggers for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt, five minutes. Unedited. The prompt this week is … Hide.
There’s no doubt about it – the last twenty two months have been challenging in ways none of us ever expected.
While we can try to hide from the challenges and difficulties, they often can find us in the most unexpected of ways and times.
It is then we learn to put our trust in God, relying on His presence to keep and sustain us.
“Keep me as the apple of the eye; Hide me in the shadow of Your wings.” (Psalm 17:8, NASB)
Our eyes, our pupils, are delicate and in need of protection. Having had cataract surgery in the last year, I found out just how precious my eyes are to me. I now keep them protected with sunglasses whenever outside.
Hidden in the shadow of His wings, we find safety from any elements. More so, we experience the protective care of our God who loves us deeply. Hidden in the shadow of His wings, we remain secluded and unseen. It is there we can be confident nothing can touch our lives unless it has passed through the hands of God.
Sure there have been challenges and difficulties over the last twenty two months. But God has been faithful. He has kept us and brought us through. Sustaining us day by day.
His protection is only a prayer away –
“Hide me in the shadow of Your wings.”

Today I am joining …
My train of thought went along the same lines today with the FMF prompt. I immediately thought of being hidden with God. “It is there we can be confident nothing can touch our lives unless it has passed through the hands of God.” I’m so thankful our lives are hidden with Christ in God. We truly are untouchable when we rest safe in His hands. Blessings!
In the shadow of His wings
I find the final answer
to that fell question which life brings,
“How will you cope with cancer?”
Sure, the days are marked with pain,
walking’s hard and breath comes rough,
but God brings sunshine with the rain,
and, for me, it’s quite enough
to know that there is Love out there
I may not always feel,
but like O2 in the air
I have the proof it’s real
from the smile that’s in my heart
as my body falls apart.
Andrew, you are surely being kept in the shadow of His wings for purposes and plans yet to be revealed!
I’m so thankful He hides us in the shelter of His wings, Joanne.
I am as well, Lisa. The assurance of this makes every day a bit easier.
Without question, the best place we can be Ms. Joanne. It is there that we find the strength to stand firm in His gaze and declare His gospel message to the world. Amen ma’am.
Amen, J.D. It is there we find strength!
Hi, Joanne.
This reminds me of what Christ said about seed withering because the roots were shallow. How many have shallow roots? Lord, let my roots grow deep!
Blessings,
Tammy

I think even more true is that we hide our difficulties from others too. We hide our pain. But if I remember to hide in the shadow of His wing, I am held up and protected by a loving Father.
Trusting God and stepping into the challenges of life is far better than sitting on the sidelines and missing the opportunities God has waiting for us. The challenges will come but we stand in His protection.
