“The secret of the Lord is for those who fear Him, And He will make them know His covenant.” (Psalm 25:14, NASB)
“Dear friend, God may send you some valuable gifts wrapped in unattractive paper. But do not worry about the wrappings for you can be sure that inside He has hidden treasures of love, kindness, and wisdom. If we will simply take what He sends and trust Him for the blessings inside, we will learn the meaning of the secrets of His providence, even in times of darkness.” (A.B. Simpson)
Not until each loom is silent,
And the shuttles cease to fly,
Will God unroll the pattern
And explain the reason why
The dark threads are as needful
In the Weaver’s skillful hand,
As the threads of gold and silver
For the pattern which He planned.(from Streams in the Desert by L. B. Cowman, May 6, page 183)

Today I am joining … Scripture & a Snapshot and Sunday Scripture Blessings .
I love this metaphor and pray for faith to receive from God what he gives, trusting that he has the real view in mind.
We tend to focus on the underside – the side with all the knots and twists of thread. But God … He is working on the beautiful, woven tapestry.
What a beautiful poem that explains God perfectly. One day, we will have the complete picture of His plan. Amen.
I first heard that poem many years ago when Chuck Swindoll shared it on his radio program. It gave me such hope and I am grateful the words spoke to your heart as well. Blessings!
Yes and amen! People are surprised when I tell them that having triple negative breast cancer was the biggest blessing of my life. However, my faith grew exponentially, my ability to love grew deeper, my family grew closer and ministerial opportunities abounded. Yes, the wrapping doesn’t matter, only what’s inside. 🙂
It is amazing what God brings from every experience if we but trust and obey.
I’ve always loved this metaphor, too. There are some darker strands we’d rather do without, but the whole picture won’t be complete without them.
